I have to say I was born in the late 70's so listening to their music came a little later. I appreciate their earlier music as well as their later music. I can honestly say that I don't have a favorite song or album. One reason is cause I love all of their music from when they formed back in 1972, God has a reason for the many band member's that joined Petra. So I am not going to say I have a favor over the other members. They all have been apart of Petra's history and each played an important role in Petra's memory, they have been a blessing in my life in huge way's and I will always be thankful to them for being there in music and being part of a support that I needed when I needed support the most. They are great friends and wonderful people. I see that many people on here a have favs. but I am one that doesn't cause every band member is talented like the one before them, its just that some played in studios that had better recording equipment than others or later on in Petra's career. Its not fair to say that one band member is better than the other. I appreciate them all as if they were one big huge band playing together. I wont make up my mind which album or band member is my favorite cause they all are and THATS A BLESSING from God.

Oh and rumor has it that Petra is coming out with another cool t-shirt soon! so check out their website from time to time!

Hello and Welcome, I think everyone has got used of Classic Petra now the whole disagreement is over. I too like Petra in all forms, favor some years when I was a kid more than others. I am glade we had Petra in times of our life when there was no cool Christian music. Most people here are hanging out for a Classic Petra tour, not t-shirts mate too cold for them anyway.

Well, maybe it's not so much about skill and talent, but about personal preference...

OK people. I really don't mean this as harshly as it may sound, but can we all be adults about this? This isn't little league band where "every child is a winner" and get's the same trophy as the next guy no matter what they do. We live in an adult world where not everyone shares the same talent, and so what? It doesn't mean anyone is any less valuable to God.

It's fair to say God had his purpose in each one of them being a part of the band; even the ones that probably shouldn't have been. (God even has a purpose in our mistakes, but they are still mistakes.) But to say they are all equally as talented is.....I don't know.......seems to be the effect of the political correctness bandwagon, but not at all realistic.

I think if God wanted to reach the masses with music, he would use what the masses listen to. That genre is best known as "crappe". So Petra would be more of the "chasinghellwithasquirtgunsinfluencingonesoulatatime".

Nobody can discount one version of the band. Well, yes we can. The version sandwiched between when Bob left and when Bob came back. It was the classic version that basically took the bloody head so that the rest of Christian rock could thrive. It was the first version that laid the foundation the Schlitt version could build on. It was the first version that John listened to himself. Neither is better. They are both different evolutions of the band. Petra = Van Halen in this regard.

Except that with Van Halen, I don't think anyone could argue that the Sammy era was better than the Dave era.

Both Petra and Van Halen had lamer late 90s periods as far as membership goes (Gary Cherone, I'm talking about you).

I don't think Van Halen was ever that great of a band. They had some nice songs over the years, but unlike most of their counterparts they never truly had that one complete album.

The first one, 1984 and 5150 were complete albums that had little filler.
