Classic Petra Q&A

Post by RockOn » Tue Dec 21, 2010 10:04 am

I wrote Michael Nachtigal and asked a few questions about future CDs and the tour.

Here are his responses:

Is it true they are going back in the studio to record the second CD in January?
*yes Volume #2 of the classic hits

Is there a title for the new CD?
*not yet

Has artwork already been produced for the cover? If so, when do you think the artwork will be shown to the fans?
*working on artwork now

Do they have all the songs picked out yet? How many songs total will there be?
*at least 12, songs like “not of this world”, “beat the system”, etc.

How many new songs will there be? Who wrote the new songs (only Bob or is there another GXV song in there as well)? *both Bob and Greg, maybe other writers too, depending on song selection

Will John Lawry be producing it? Will it be mixed at Abbey Road Studios again?
*John will be producing again on the 2nd record, for mastering probably Abbey Road again.

If all the details are secured for the second CD, will there DEFINITELY be a THIRD one coming? If so, are there any details (when it will be recorded, song selection, etc) you can share?
*our plan is to start the 3rd record on all new songs around the first part of April and also start our world tour the middle of April in Australia, moving to Europe and the UK in May, the US and Canada after that. South Africa, India, Japan, China, anywhere we are invited. I have done over 20 world tours with some of the biggest bands in the business and probably more excited about the classic Petra tour than any of them. We, as a band, have a vision to help ignite the world again with a challenge to get back to the faith and the music again.

I've sent him another email asking if the third CD will be all new songs. From the above response it sounds that way, but I want to clarify.

Got a response from Michael on the third CD. This guy is all over it! I wish he would have been around during the Wayne Seboa years. Michael could have shown him how to do things the right way!

*Yes, 3rd record will be all new songs and will start with that project the 1st of April.

Wow. That really changes things. It means there will only be 20 classics redone as opposed to 30, but it also means we could have a CD of all new material by the end 2011.

"onda" means "evil" in plural in Swedish. For example: They are evil = De är onda.
