I wish, in this day and age, someone here would take all of Petra's records from 1986 to 1995 and put some real drum sounds in there. That would bring those records to this age, and and make them listenable again! Any Takers?

Wonder who has the multitracks now? I doubt they are still around. The E-brothers are no longer in the same studios. The labels have all but gone. Maybe Petra will get back with John and they will recut the John era stuff the way that Classic Petra is now

.

Why not 1984 to 1992? The drums on Wake-Up Call (1993) sounds real enough.

I've always wondered if the drums on GOD FIXATION are real.

Now wait. We can make real drums played by a real drummer sound effected to the point that they sound trendy, electronic, etc. We can add delays and stuff to create loops and progressions that the drummer didn't play, but still fit the tune. We can take samples (snap shot recordings of single hits) and orchestrate a complete part, and no one would know, as long as the person doing it knows how to play drums, etc. So, clarify what you mean.

UP has real drums. Anyone who has seen backstage pass knows Louie was in the studio, this is well documented.

When Revival was about to be released, they released a rough mix for Send Revival. I never heard the difference, but I think it was said that it was without the electronic drum loops (or whatever it\'s called). So this should sort of show the process.
Here\'s the original download file:

Is there anyone who can listen to this rough mix and the album version for Revival and then tell me something more about the difference? Please tell me what to listen for...

But backstage pass also shows "live" performances. So it depends on how much you believe what you're shown! The sounds you hear are not acoustic drums, maybe they are triggered by Louie's playing, or Louie added some cymbals and other details on top, but it's not a straight recording of him playing.
