Just like Def Leppard, it was the Fairlight. The only stringed instrument was Bobs guitar and it was not a 100% authentic electric guitar. He played the Roland synth guitar, the 707 big plastic turd, which is on the wall at Hard Rock in Dallas, TX.

I think the synth bass can sound good in the right situation, when there is something a bass guitar can't cover.

I don't think its there anymore; The Hard Rock moved to a new location a couple years ago and I didn't see it there any longer. I could have overlooked it though.

Bummer. Where did Hard Rock move? Is Spaghetti Warehouse still down town?

The Hard Rock is downtown by American Airlines Center - I've never been there so - don't know what's on the wall. Spaghetti Warehouse is still in West End.

I saw Bob's "Beat the System" guitar at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville, TN, but that was about 10-years ago.

I've not heard this before...I assume this was just for certain parts, that he was using a traditional amp for the majority??

Most of it was the Roland IIRC.

The G-707 has traditional magentic humbuckers in it, too, whose signal can be sent through an amplifier. In watching some of the Captured in Time and Space YouTube stuff, it appears that at times he uses both, but then will go and hit something with his foot and the synth sounds stop while the traditional guitar tone continues.
