15 MP3 tracks from the concert in Finland

Post by adpetrafan » Tue May 03, 2011 10:36 am

This might get missed since I posted it at the end of the Finland videos thread.

---------

If anyone is interested, I made MP3s of all the Finland videos I could find because watching YouTube at work is not as easy as listening to MP3s, and I figured that may be the case for others here as well.

Thanks to anyone here who posted videos!

Are you speaking on behalf of the band?

I find it hard to believe that the band would like bootlegs distributed for free. But, maybe they would. Don't know. I'll ask. Last time I spoke with John Lawry about this very subject, he said that he was concerned about theft and worried about how to police it. Technically and legally speaking, one cannot redistribute music that does not belong to them without compensation to the copyright owner.

As they put youtube-videos on the blog they can´t have big problem with them. Even big bands consider bootlegs as a good oportunity for marketing their name and performance. As long as it doesn´t become a black market. Selling bootlegs without permission would be a copyright violation.

I see it like Phish, Pearl Jam, and the Greatful Dead saw it. They even had concerts were they encouraged fans to bring high tech gear to record their own bootlegs. Over the years we here at the zone have traded bootlegs of Petra for over 10 years now.

Even most of what Sue has posted on John's site are Boots, and look at Terje's site and Youtube too. So I think is common knowledge that Petra fans around the world trade boots since day one.

By the way Brent, did u see the Finland videos? I have not read your opinion on that great performance and show. Best overall performance, lights and sound so far imo. Don't you think this one proves that the band still has it and that Greg can still sing live almost anything?

I was pushing this before most people knew about it. I think it is a great.

The production is something the last incarnations of Petra were missing. Greg knows what it takes to put on a good show. Not saying John didn't, because he fought for it. This band has the money to do it right.

Can't comment on the performance. I don't have time to watch all of it. From what I observed, they are shaking the shows up a bit, which is good.

If someone does a new post, below where you submit, it is possible to attach a file and post it there. I don't believe there is a size limit. Daniel said have at it the other day on uploads, at least someone did ...

Give me a download link, and I can put it up on my site for easy download.
But I first need the clip.... I have unlimited storage space and fast upload speed.

Yeah you should be able to upload files over 1GB in size now, I guess I could setup an FTP as well, I have hundreds of videos I will upload on to the zone at some stage, all US server space so this might help ya'll.

If the band does not want the files shared, I will gladly remove them. Brent, can you please ask them about this specific circumstance?

To clairfy, all I did here was take the audio from the already existing and shared YouTube videos and put it in a different format that is more accessible for me. I figured it might be beneficial to others as well. The band is showing some of the same videos on their site right now: http://classicpetra.com/blog/ so I assumed they are happy to share what the band is doing right now.

Yeah I think if the band writes that it would like bootlegs and the rest removed it'll happen without a problem. Youtube.. well thats another thing.

Bootleg are promotional in a way, some bands encourage them, in Petra's case it could be evangelism.

At the end of the day it is all piracy.

Brent how did you feel when PDC appeared on torrents?

Have to call you some time we haven't talked in yonks man..

I remember in the past John S. saying he was fine with bootlegs of concerts but since this is different, maybe is a different story.
