Boray wrote:Maybe this have been all said before but I feel a really strong vibe from "Unfit for Swine" (which is my favorite John Schlitt solo album so far - will be interesting to see it that lasts).
The first song "Live It Loud" has that vibe, but in reality it sounds IMO somewhat dated; it is my least liked rocker on the album.
I will give a full review of the album when my CD arrives; I encourage everyone to give their reviews once they receive their copies also.

Some of you guys are using dated in the wrong context IMO.
Anything John does is going to sound "dated", because John is not some young, musically shallow, over-produced kid starting out now.
John has music and tones reflecting the fact that John is a 70s rocker at heart. He has his influences and decades of stylistic habits/practices to filter music through. His music would sound silly to me if he didn't show signs of taste and maturity. I like dated. I was there when his music was in, and that is when I formed my tastes and preferences. I don't want any other form of John than authentic.

Good point Brent. One thing that is NOT dated is the production...the guitars, keys and drums sound great to me. My hope is that Classic Petra will go with a producer that will get a sound similar to The Greater Cause. I know it probably wouldn't rock as much as TGC, but a more natural, more open sound than BTTR would be an improvement IMO.

I've yet to receive my CDs, and I only live a few hours up I-65 for pete's sake. I am giving one of them as a birthday gift; unfortunately her birthday is today and I had to give a card with a note saying "there's more to come", eventually.

They ARE in the mail, Bridget. I thought you were going to Indy? We gave the Crew their packages there....
I like your comment, Brent..... very true! John has a voice that does sound '70s rock, though he can - and does - 'change it' (for lack of a better word) as need be.

It usually takes longer for any mail I send to get across town than it does to someone out of state...and if you happen to be a few cents short, they waste time and money to send it back for the extra postage.
Postal service isn't alway the most reliable.

Good point. I've felt the same way on a lot of albums that I like only to have someone claim it is dated or the band is irrelevant. Some of the best songs must be "dated" I guess.

I still don't have my physcial CDs. I suppose they will arrive sometime. =)
Did anyone film the release part of the convention? I would love to see/hear the discussion about the songs/project.

I took a little bit on video during play and talk, but I didn't record question time.. I think.
Also got 60% GHF and %100 of JS, will convert and put on youtube at some stage.

Got mine!
Packaging was nice and tidy, CDs are in good condition, though the insert was wrinkled on at least one copy. Nothing too terrible. The autograph is sweet.
