Top Ten Songs to have reworked, rocked harder

IF an organization, like PDC, were to take 10 songs from Petra's catalog and cover them, what would be the list? Here is the deal. The concept is not to do a Double Take record per se, completely changing the songs. The concept would be to make them the hardest, most rockin' tunes possible, with a little modernization. There are a couple of tunes that could be reworked from ballads into rockers, and I am holding that list close to me for now. The songs might change in key to accommodate age and alternate guitar tunings but they would remain somewhat recognizable. Thoughts?

Sounds good to me...
If I could choose 3, I'd love to see "beat the system" "Right Place" and "this means war" redone as a Rockin' numbers without all the keyboards (as much as I love the originals)...

He came, He saw, He conquered
could use louder guitar, higher in the mix.

Really interesting how many you put on the list from Back to the street and This means war. And I really agree, these two albums are good but could have legendary if they had some heavier guitar and a little less keyboard

These are hard. Some of these are easy to pick but some are just that I wished they rocked a little harder. A good mix between what I call both eras of Petra.
Here goes in no particular order:
1. God Gave Rock and Roll to You (re-work of Come and Join Us version.)
2. Morning Star (Washes Whiter Than)
3. Run for the Prize
4. Beat the System
5. Computer Brains
6. Shakin the House
7. Run for Cover
8. You are my Rock (TMW)
9. The Water is Alive
10. Think Twice

How much of a change would you be willing to accept? I appreciate when artists rework a tune, like when Eric Clapton did the MTV acoustic set, which is what Petra should have done, instead of jacking the melodies and making them completely unrecognizable. On the other hand, there are some tunes that would not work, IMO, because of their chord progression and lyrical phrasing. Those songs almost require a completely different arrangement. So, for me, it is hard to think of some of these tunes as rockers, without completely gutting them, because they are so dated. Thoughts?

I would love to hear This Means War! the whole album reworked with beefy guitars.. I mean the album rocks but there is room to move with that album.

I agree. That's the point.
This Means War Album is... a "WAR" Album...
That means... Heavy Guitars!
I think that Back To The Streets could use some heavy guitars too...
And the On Fire! Album... yes, this album is with Jekyll & Hyde the most powerful in Petra's history but I think that some of the songs of that album could be a little harder and more polished...
