Classic Petra signs with H2O?

Just checked an old email address and found this from Scott Huie at H2O dated November 1:
"H2O Artist Agency is proud to announce the signing of CLASSIC PETRA for worldwide representation effective immediately. As the pioneers of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres, Petra paved the way with their arena rock sound that revolutionized Christian music beginning in the early 80s. Over their illustrious career spanning now five decades, Petra has released 24 albums, selling nearly 10 million copies. With four Grammys and 10 Dove Awards, inductions into both the Hard Rock Café and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, they have had more #1 radio hits than the stars, and have now reunited the original lineup of Greg Volz, Bob Hartman, Mark Kelly, John Lawry, and Louie Weaver to bring their classic rock sound to people all around the world with a message of hope and healing. Great for churches, fairs, festivals, schools, and theatres. Call today to bring this show in to your community as soon as this fall."
I received this but I cannot find anything at
http://www.h2oaa.com or at the Classic Petra site. Scott is a youth Pastor in our area and has promoted Petra in the past. He currently has Seventh Day Slumber, Super Chick, the Imperials and a few others. Anyone else heard about this?

The thing is, I think we're gonna have to wait and see at this point. There do not seem to be any clear cut answers for us right now and I'm getting the feeling that's the way they want it or we'd know something. Everything seems to have changed from we thought we knew, so I guess we don't really know anything until they want us to.

Hey everybody. I know how disappointed you all are. It genuinely hurt to have to post that information.
The reason for the cancellations was lack of ticket sales. This was largely due to lack of promotional dollars from the record company. Many of you noticed the lack of promotion and commented on it. Also, the tickets prices were higher than many people could afford.
As far as what is coming up, I don’t have any information on that yet. I’ll keep you posted as I can.
We’ll do our best to answer any other questions you may have.
God bless all of you,
Yvonne
H2O hopefully will fix things up soon. Previous management were hopeless.
If H2O is effective immediately then, we shouldn't have seen the silly post above on the CP site 4 days ago.

Yeah, I'm wondering why neither have anything on their website, but I guess websites staying outdated for two weeks is not out of the question.

This is a GREAT sign because it shows Bob is taking a lead role in this thing, instead of saying "I don't know you"ll need to talk to that guy over there".

That's putting it nicely, Daniel! lol
I too received an email from H20... but it wasn't like the one you posted, BForm. It was after Nov. 1... can't recall the exact date, but probably a week or so ago at the most. It was all graphics, with a list of "Classic Petra accomplishment." Thing is -- all the awards they listed were from PETRA, not Classic Petra. There is a difference. Big difference and misleading to say that Classic Petra (as a band unto itself) won all that.
BTW, H20 is a booking agency, not a management service. Bookies can't really 'fix' things - management can. It IS odd that nothing is posted on any website.

Where Bob is, there is Petra and everyone in the group has been a legit member of Petra and not just a legit member, but a long serving important member and therefore, what you have is a legit incarnation of Petra and those things would have been said just as well if it were the same line up with John and then I bet you would not have had any problem with it at all.

Don't forget Louie. Petra didn't win anything without him being in the band. The GMA induction does not count. That is all inclusive.
This is not uncommon. Look at Skynard. There is one guy left (barely) that is original. All of the replacements have been in the band longer than the originals were, but the originals put the band on the map and made the hit music. Nobody gives a crap about the new stuff really. But, the band lives off of the legacy of the old band and marketing/booking banks on it as well.

Well, I can sort of see the problem that Sue is referring to. They probably started using Classic Petra, because Farewell Petra is still occasionally doing reunions shows. But if you then look strictly at the definition of Classic Petra, it starts getting confusing...

It may be common in this industry(including ClassicPetra), but is it right? No its not, and for all intense purposes its a flat out lie, but at the very least misleading and on purpose I might add.
The original press release for Classic Petra sent out in 2010, basically showed Classic Petra as the one with all the history and rewards and also made it look like anything that happened after CITAS was somewhat minor; they basically showed John as a short term member without any significant contributions.

They are using Classic Petra because its under different ownership; unlike Petra which Bob completely owns. CP is set up as ownership between the five members of CP.

I agree with exe. If you're marketing Classic Petra as a "return" to the old-school Petra with a specific set of band members, then it's disingenuous at best to include accomplishments achieved by the incarnations of the band that had nothing to do with this "classic" iteration.
If this was just "Petra," and it happened to include the members of the 1984-85 lineup, that would be one thing. But this is wanting to have your cake and eat it, too: Market yourself as a classic version while taking credit for all the things the modern version accomplished.
