Thought about Greg X

Post by bakersfieldpethead » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:15 pm

Hey

It just hit me, do you think Greg will bring back out the extra Guitar? He used to play one on stage in the early 80s.

Also on "praise ye the Lord"... I don't know how good his guitar chops are, but it helps the image! 8)

What he played in the intro of Chameleon impressed me a bit anyway. And you can hear that his guitar comes in in angel of light at times as well I think. But on the praise ye the Lord clip, I can't hear his guitar at all.

On that second clip, he doesn't have a pick through most of the song. Watch carefully: first he checks his pockets, then he tries to signal to a stage hand to bring him one by holding up his hand with thumb and forefinger pressed together, and finally around the 1:35 mark, he walks over and grabs one off of Hartman's mic stand. That's the main reason, I think, why you can't hear him playing. He's trying to strumb with his thumb, or is just faking it until then, and when he finally does get a pick, there's almost nothing left to play because the song is pretty much over.

I happen to think it's a pretty funny concert blooper.

...or they just didn't include his guitar when mixing the album. I never play with a pick. I have built in picks. They are called nails. I don't play piano with gloves either. ;-)

IIRC Greg wax not on par with Bob and his playing was a filler and not ever recorded.

That may be true, but from the clip, it's clear that Greg prefers a pick.
