I was surprised to find nobody talking about this today. Alice Cooper played the BTS version of GGRRTY on his nightly radio show last night. He talked about the little controversy with Petra and Kiss and then played Petra's version of the song. How cool is that! To bad it was the wrong version of the song that he played...but I will take what I can get.

I thought the C&JU version was the one that caused all the controversy? Is there any way we can get a recording of this? this is a solid peace of history to have Alice Cooper mentioning Petra.

It was actually Sunday night that it was played (As a Pastor sometimes after a crazy Sunday my Mondays end up a blur so I lost a day somewhere ), which means it was a rerun of a previous show. I went looking through the set list for the Nights with Alice Cooper show but couldn't find it. They only have the last two weeks of first run set lists. Anyway..I will keep looking. The set lists also show that he played Argents version of the song on 2/10.

This could be what you're looking for. It's entirely possible that whoever was transcribing the set list to the site was going off of a list that only included the song title and assumed in retrospect that it must have been the Argent version.

One of the most overated songs of all time and can't believe so many artists have chosen to remake it. The most alarming part about it is my favorite band Petra has recorded the thing 3 times; please let the song go to the grave where it deserves to reside.

They may have recorded it 3 times but they never seemed to get it right. The Starsong mix track from Rock Block sounds the best, IMO.

If you compare to the original version, Petra has improved it.

I like it a lot. It's a song that pretty much everybody's heard of that Petra just happened to do. Unfortunately, KISS is more known for it because their version rocks. If Petra had recorded the version they did live in '83 on track 16 that you can hear on trodland's site, then it would have been far better than the version they recorded of it on BTS and maybe more popular, I dunno but I still like it.
