John - Back to Norway

Post by sue d. » Fri Jul 27, 2012 5:05 pm

John's traveling to Norway with his BAND:

Cristian Borneo – Drums
Rob Solberg - Lead Guitar
Jeffrey Thomas Hudson - Rhythm Guitar & Keys
Grant Norsworthy – Bass

for the first TAKE OFF FESTIVAL in Tonstad, Norway http://www.takeoff.no/

I'm hoping to get lots of photos & video (we have our resident ace in the hole, Trodland, who will be a big help with this!) to post.

John's very excited about this band - they totally rock, according to John!

Just come home from the show in Norway! Fantastic band, and John rocked the whole hangar airport hall!
I took some photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/1093325607 ... Norway2012

And a video: http://youtu.be/osqsQ4mZj4g

I'll write a review tomorrow.

The video was awesome, that is the VOICE!!!! I also watched the "How Great Thou Art" Video that Petra performed last week in Denmark and after watching that video that is the sole reason why they are still doing this after 40 years. They always give God the praise & glory He deserves.

The hair on the back of my spine stood up when I saw this performance! John was spot on! What refreshing performance. These are exciting times for everything Petra related!

Spot on??? Hmmmmm. First I thought I'd post that video on facebook but then I changed my mind because I thought he was singing a bit out of tune here and there... I also missed the synth melody from the chorus.

That's one of those songs I hope doesn't make the set list, even in the U.S. at a July 4th concert. Weak sauce.

The first couple of times I heard it I felt the same way, but it has grown on me and is a good rocker. The lyrics are strong and are actually more about faith & freedom with God and your relationship with Christ than it is about God & country. The lyrics are very catchy and now(current) with the doublesided meanings.

John will be performing Faith & Freedom at the RNC next month on a side stage sponsored by ACLJ. I'm sure it won't be aired on TV, but it will be on the net somewhere.

I felt it was actually quite good cosidering John is not regually touring, and has had only practice runs with this band, plus I guarantee you nobody in the crowd could here it like that or was complaining. At least he is not using samples like Greg does and most others do live.

Samples with singing??? Or what do you mean? I think you might mean autotune? Greg don't use that, except for that live DVD I guess.

I think it was ok, but I'm just not that overwhelmed like some of you, that's all.

What I'm meaning is that Greg is not doing everything live; some of his vocals are sampled in or prerecorded. Considering this day & age is not that big of a deal; most vocalists do it nowadays. It was really evident at the Plano, Tx show(Greg is not that great at lipsyncing). I know the sound engineer for the Plano church where they performed and he said some was prerecorded.
