No Louie
Saw them at LifeLight and Louie was not playing the drums! The band seemed to be going through the motions and just trying to get through the show. No connection with audience at all. I've got every Petra album and have seen Petra live about a dozen times since the 80's. Wondered if tension had surfaced between Louie and the rest again. It has happened before, but ever since the dismissal emotions run higher.

Re: No Louie
Nope, not so...Louie just couldn't make that one show and Cristian filled in for him. I think Classic Petra's facebook page is where I read that, although I couldn't swear to it. All this Internet stuff is tricky to keep up with sometimes.
It may have been in one of Rob's posts too.
They're bound to have an off show now and then; that does happen.

Re: No Louie
Sure enough! He was a good drummer, but not Peter Furler good. It was a tough gig for the group. The almost quit before they were down with the set. The concert promoter (Al Greene) asked them to go back out and finish the gig. I've seen John Schlitt stop and leave the stage before in the middle of a song, but this was worse than that IMHO. You know it was a tough night when Greg said that we are the oldies in the line-up, but we hope you enjoy us anyways. They had a defeated presence. This isn't the Petra we have all come to admire. They should have stayed retired!

I don't agree that they should have stayed retired. They've been awesome before, and they will be again. I have faith in them
One bad show doesn't mean anything, happens to everyone. I'm sorry that it had to happen at the show you went to though, it must have felt disappointing. Keep your chin up though, not every show will be like this!

Re: No Louie
As I said, every band has a bad night sometimes. I prefer to remember all the concerts I went to where everything went well.
And if you don't like how the concerts go, there is always the option of simply not going. Just sayin'.

Re: No Louie
Hey there , Cristian borneo here, I just Wanna tell ya ll , that I subed for Louie only for this gig cause he couldnt do it , the guys ( Bob , Johny , Mark ) loved the way we grooved . Besides that we had an encore ( too big to fail) , but as soon we left the stage the fest techs started to unplugged everything ( time is this kinda fest is critical) . Thats why it took us a litle time to get back on stage again, it wasnt a bad show at all... Peter furler, Remedy drive and Sanctus real were on the side of stage really enjoying it as we DID... And congratulated us after the concert...

Re: No Louie
Hey Cristian, so glad to hear you were able to sub for Louie! If Petra picked you to play with them, then you have to be VERY good, no matter what folks may say. Good to hear see you on here as well! I wasn't there, but I'm sure the show was awesome!

Cristian, we know that you are an excellent drummer. No doubt about it!
Surely it was a great festival!
See you in Brazil in a few days.

It's amazing how people will read into things when they don't know what's up.

Re: No Louie
Anyone ever hear of practice or chemistry? These 2 things are vital to bring the best performance out of a band. Christan probably had very little practice time with these guys and it takes time to build up the chemistry, so you have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Before jumping to conclusions(like some do here) and assume all is lost(like some do here) get the facts. Assuming something will at times make you look well not quite right.

Re: No Louie
Obviously this is a case of misinterpretation of events by djregher, when in reality the band gave their best , and I asure you that most people enjoyed their performance. I have been to several CP shows in the past 2 years and people young and old sing, clap along and have a great time. Also I know how frustrating it is when a band is rushed off the stage for the next act, then having to set up in a jiffy, it very stressing, its happened to my band a couple of times. Also Greg has joked many times from stage about their age.

Re: No Louie
I say give the guy the benefit of doubt, because none of us were there; I'm sure he was pretty disappointed not to see Louie up there and probably went all down hill for him from there. I know I was really disappointed at the show in Plano, Tx because we couldn't hear Bob in the mix except for his solos; all we heard was drums and a huge wall of keys, but that was not the band's fault just some church member probably mixing the board and didn't have the right mind or tools to get it right.
