Hey People
Hey when did Rob Frazier Join Petra? In his wikipedia article it says he joined in 1979, but Ive got the Youtube video of him and the band at Marathana in 1978.
Can anyone clarify this please?
Glenn.

Re: Rob Frazier Joined Petra
They probably just went by the date for which "Washer Whiter Than" was released, as that was the only album that Rob appears on.

Re: Rob Frazier Joined Petra
I believe Washes Whiter Than was actually recorded in 1978 (it was released in Spring 1979), so Rob must've joined them earlier that year. It's kind of difficult to figure out exactly when original Petra ceased to exist. Bill Glover was already officially not a member anymore in 1976, but seems to have continued to be involved till 1978. In 1978 Greg Hough and John DeGroff left. By then Bob and Greg had decided to focus broaden their ministry a bit and also focus on those who already were believers. That caused the change in style between CAJU and WWT. And it probably helped bringing someone like Rob Frazier on board, whose voice is partly responsible for the mellower sound of WWT.

People came and went regardless of album release dates. You cannot go by the albums. You also cannot go by everything you see on YouTube. Those dates can be wrong as well. He came, he left. I don't care beyond that. That music back then was not my music. Rob was never an artist I cared for, even when I was in CCM radio. He did have several in rotation too.

I know what you mean. I appreciate the pre-Never Say Die albums, and they do have some really good songs on them, but I don't enjoy them as much as what is traditionally thought of as early Petra.brent wrote:That music back then was not my music.
