My favorite covers would all come from the older albums, pre Beat the System, with More Power to Ya easily taking the top spot. The lone exception to that rule would be This Means War, which I would probably rate as the second best Petra cover of all time. By and large their album covers after TMW have been pretty boring. The worst cover would have to go to No Doubt.

In some of the later albums they went with some really interesting themes. The colors, fonts, photos all really jelled. Then there was No Doubt. What were they thinking? I kind of liked the hidden 3d picture but it sure was ugly.

Top 5
1) Unseen Power- the fold out art along w. the cover always looked really cool to me.
2) More Power to Ya- Rocket ship guitars are a favorite of mine.
3) Back To the Street
4) On Fire
5) Beyond Belief- I like the images and the fonts used

Bottom
1) Washes Whiter Than
2) This Means War (the "warrior" looks really puny to me)
3) Never Say Die
4) No Doubt
5) Wake Up Call- when I saw the cover I instantly did not want to hear any of the songs on it.

Of course the album and art work has no bearing on the music on that particular album...

Yeah, I spaced out Back to the Rock. It is pretty cool cover. Definitely the coolest cover since This Means War.

I too would place the old guitar/space ship covers on top. Those were released in a day where that art was pretty bold for Christian albums. It was very timely. The modern album art was not really art per se. It for sure didn't take someone as long as the old paintings took. Back To The Street was the modern tip of the hat to the past, but it was really cheap looking.

Top 10:
1. Come and Join Us (Cool medieval look)
2. This Means War (love spiritual warfare)
3. On Fire (again, spiritual warfare)
4. More Power to Ya (awesome and speaks for itself)
5. Not of This World (awesome and speaks for itself)
6. Back to the Street (awesome speaks for itself)
7. Never Say Die (awesome speaks for itself)
8. Unseen Power (of course, comparing wind to the Holy Ghost/Spirit)
9. Jekyll and Hyde (matches the title and grittiness of the music)
10. No Doubt (hopefully I will not get banned from here, but I like the colors on this one. Plus, I was only 15 when it came out :P )
Definite Honorable Mention: Classic Petra's Back to the Rock

DUDE, how could you have Never Say Die so far down on your list? It's one of the coolest album covers!

My opinion... It bugs me that "Petra" is in the standardized Starsong Promo typeface, completely unrelated visually to the rest of the art. Plus It jars my graphic designer sensibilities that "Petra" is outside of the actual art frame. Maybe cassette tape/8-track art came first?

I think the smiling-missile-coming-at-you vignette is odd, although it is really hard to execute an idea like that and make it look awesome.

My eyes are drawn to the upper right hand corner, where there's...nothing.

I do like the colors...
