They have some boo boos and John forgets the lyrics, but listen to the last "soooo dim". THAT is what I love about John. He reaches deep and delivers.

I remember thinking the same thing when I stumbled on that clip (the whole set is also on YouTube somewhere). I also found another (more recent, I think) clip of John singing a demo for "Send Revival". He just soars on this one - if only this take made the record:

This is from a concert in Augsburg, Germany in May, 2002. Lukas Jacobi (the guy who had John sing German on his CD) recorded this and released it through petrafanclub.de a long time ago (http://petraband.de/video-clips.htm).

JOHN forget lyrics? Naw... he does NOT! :P

The Send Revival clip is definitely NOT a demo; it was from a live concert, as you said, by Lukas Jacobi, the one who had John sing in German on his EP/Enhanced CD-Rom. We have it right here for only $5: http://schlittshop.com/merch/wann-immer ... hn-schlitt It really is a unique CD to own as part of your Petra-related collection.

I can totally understand John forgetting the words to Rose-Colored Stained Glass Windows, since It was a Volz song, especially if they weren't doing it regularly in concert. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that occassionally flubs a good song...

LOVE that Revival clip! Honestly, both songs do a pretty good job of reminding me why I love John Schlitt...

I really didn't like this version of Petra, John was in fine form, but Pete was such a sloppy player.

Yeah, I saw this version of petra two times. Pete is all flash, fun to watch but he's got nothing on bob when it comes to playing. John has ways been the highlight...fun to watch and always good to listen to.

This clip is awesome!! He has the high end but also the meat in the vocals unlike other vocalists; This is what makes John the best.

Pete had energy and he is a great guy on stage, but yeah....he butchered Petra guitar parts, was kinda' sloppy.

Pete Orta was a competent guitarist when he would just play. It was showboating and jumping around stage that made him sound sloppy.

I think his guitar playing falls in line with the guitarists of today, very vague sound, with no stylistic measure, and no life to it; In other words everyone sounds just alike. Back in the day you knew and could tell who that was playing the guitar.

Good point. Popular music doesn't seem to have that "handmade" sound anymore.

And get off my lawn!

Great clip.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and go with Pete to answer Matthew's question...Hope this doesn't start something. :P (This is said jokingly by someone who has been posting here a long time and seen a lot of heated discussions about various bandmembers by the way; it's not meant to be taken completely seriously).

I got to meet Pete a couple of times, he's a nice guy.
