Class A1 Petra fan

Post by Joe Sull » Tue Mar 26, 2013 6:29 am

I've been listening to Petras music since 85. There ministry moves my heart with the goodness of god. These song are prayers thru my work day where I can armor myself against this fallen world.

Petra and Keith Green music is all I care to listen to. I've worn out a lot of tapes and cd's over the years. I bought all my favorite songs online and burn my own cd's as they get scratched up. They'll never be another Petra. They, with the blessing of God, have set the bar too high.

I bought a banjo and I've been learning Foggy mountian breakdown, Cripple creek and working on some others. My guitar has been collecting dust for years. I thought about trying to learn to play Petra songs many times but never did it. I'm getting somewhere with this banjo, working with tabs and watching utube videos so I dusted off my guitar, tune it up and I'm working on the intro to Grave Robber now. I was looking at some utube video, trying to find one, of Bobs right hand finger placement, when I came across this forum. It's really great to know that I'm not alone!

Thanks for the welcome and I'm enjoying reading a few post. Since I've been looking thru some utube Petra videos lately and found out that I'm out of touch, not for a little while, but a long time. I'm mistified! I thought Petra disbanded a long time ago. I did hear that they got together for a concert a while back but I did'nt know they made more albums.
I heard new song that I never heard before. I guess I'll have to find out what I'm missing and catch up.

One song that I think is precious...Adonai. Out of nowhere, it will start playing in my head. I remember a line or two and then the whole song comes back. I can almost hear the singer. When my head start running thru the chorus, I stop. Whatever I'm doing, I stop, bow my head and thank god.
And then these awsome words "Unchanging consuming fire" make my hair stand on end. I've thought about this for days on end. Gods Spirit is the Unchanging consuming fire. I've had almost a vision or I should say, a fantasy of what this world would look like if we could see this Spirit of fire at work around us. I pictured white translucent Angles and blue hydrogen flame burning over the water, the trees, the sky, everywhere. Licks of flame moving here and there resting on people. burning on me. You probably think I'm "out there" but I just want to go home.

"Blessed are the pure at heart, for they will see God"
