Ed can't recall his password, or else I am sure he would be posting some kind of inflammatory nonsense.

I heard something about this project. Isn't Dve Litchens playing lead guitar?

Louie Weaver fired from Petra

Wow. It's a resurrection of an old thread with an attempt at comedy.

Old news, but from Louie's lips to our ears while riding in the car from the Tulsa International Airport to the studio where he recorded drums for us, "John said, I have one more chance (a final record) with this band, and it doesn't include you." John owned the touring part of Petra after Bob retired. Bob left it up to John. Since Louie was not into recording J&H, didn't care for the music, and didn't want to lose money rehearsing or recording because he was busy driving tour buses and painting houses, he said he couldn't afford to work for free. He only got paid if they played live. Nobody was making any money on the records because they were not selling. Bob and John were the only people able to borrow against the points because they were the owners. Louie said he would never work for Bob again. He would only play with the band if everyone had equal shares. He wanted equal investment and equal profit. But there wasn't much. Bob had nothing to do with Louie leaving. John alone did.

Side Note

When the band I worked with, Picture This, was on Star Song, we had a meeting in the Star Song office with Darrell Harris. He recommended a share-based business model. Louie was the only holdout at that time. This was right before Beat The System was released. Maybe he read the incorrect writing on the wall. He thought Petra would be done without Greg. Perhaps he thought he would lose money, and after the band had success with John, he realized he missed out. I don't know. Just spitballing.

Classic Petra was supposed to be structured with everyone investing equally. Word is Louie helped Greg with his part, which made Mark mad. Greg got the deal with TBN for the video under the impression it would be free. Greg didn't get all the facts, or TBN bent Petra over. I am more inclined to believe it was the latter. TBN handed them a hefty invoice, putting them in the hole of $10k each (IIRC), so they had to keep touring longer than they wanted to get out of debt. Mark saw things being decided and running like in the old days and bailed after the tour.

I thought part of the reason Louie was fired was because he was trying to make deals for Petra to do more praise and worship albums (which is apparently the kind of music he really likes) when he had no authorization to do so.

He said he printed some marketing materials with vocabulary that could have created issues legally. He said he did want Petra to do another P&W album.

Yes, he wanted them to do another album like Revival, which was his favorite musically and because he was involved with the recording process from the initial temp tracks to the final mix. It's just too bad his hard work was buried under one of the most overproduced mixes in music history. A shame, really, because he's a great drummer. I've been trying to learn some Petra songs on the drums, and my goodness are those some complex grooves!
