Wake-Up Call Tour - Question

Post by bertgangl » Wed Apr 04, 2007 9:16 am

Hi guys,

I was so amazed at the number and quickness of the replies to my first post to the Petra Zone forum (regarding a date on the Petra Praise II tour), I thought I'd toss another concert-related question out to my fellow longtime Petra fans.

I saw the group on October 28th, 1993, in Birmingham, Alabama on their Wake-Up Call tour. From what I've seen in the literature, PFR and Cindy Morgan opened the shows on the tour. My questions, for those of you who might have been there, are:

* Did Cindy Morgan and/or PFR open the Birmingham show? I remember Cindy Morgan being there, but not PFR.
* What was the venue for the concert (church, auditorium, etc.)?

This may be another longshot, especially since the concert was so long ago. Then again, I thought my first question was impossibly hard to answer and I got exactly what I was looking for on that one the same day I posted. Needless to say, I was very impressed.

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a great Easter celebration.

He is risen!

According to the 1993 Battle Plan newsletter only Cindy Morgan was present at that show.

P-Freak,

Thanks for the info. It's nice to know that, even at my age, I can still recall a thing or two correctly. I didn't think PFR was at the B'ham show.

Now, if I could only remember the venue. I want to say it was a church, but I will defer to others who were there, if they chime in, for the last word on the location.

Man, I love the John Schlitt site. What a treasure trove of classic memorabilia!

Thanks, again,

Bert

Thank you! I'm into history - can you tell?

I have much more to put on there, but simply havn't had the time... and since the site is being re-done, it really doesn't pay to add alot in at this point.

Sue,

I can, indeed! In fact, my earlier information search several months back, which I mentioned in the first post on this thread, was solved thanks to a reply from yourself pointing me to the JS web site.

The Wake-Up Call tour poster on your site mentions Atkins-Muse as the point of contact, but I think they've changed names or folded altogether. I may try to see if I can't find out what happened to them and give them a buzz to see if they have records from that far back.

From one archivist to another, it's been great talking to you again and perusing your site once more. I could spend days there.

Here's hoping that others here may have info or pointers to web sites or points of contact that might help solve the Wake-Up Call mystery.

God bless, Sue!

I just looked at the tour schedule at John's site and noticed that Petra was in Toronto, Ontario on October 2, 1993. I checked my Petra tickets and I was at that concert and I remember seeing all my friends from Hamilton, Ontario that night. It has to be one of the best memories I have at a Petra concert other than the time I saw Petra in Toronto with Guardian. That was a great night because that was the first time I met John. What was cool was I suggested an unplugged album and he told me that double take was being discussed with Bob.

No one opened up for Petra on Oct 2 in Toronto, but I believe a year or so later they also played in Peterborough, Ontario which I again was at and Lisa Bevill and Dakota Motor Co. opened for them. That was a great show too because I never new John could play guitar and he did on either Sleeping Giant or Praying Man.

Petra concerts were always a fun night.
