I have a Bob Hartman Jekyll Hyde guitar....made by Bob himself. I may be interested in selling it. I bought it from him directly several years ago. It is like new. I have no idea what it may be worth these days.

It is going to be worth what Petra fans would pay for it. Email Bob, he may have an idea.

Is Bob still making/selling guitars? Anyone own one? How are they. I remember when he was selling the Jekyl and Hyde- is he still?

Thanks!

His site is still up: http://bobhartmanguitars.com/, but I'm not sure if he's actually still building guitars.

I found out from Bob he is no longer making the Jekyll and Hyde guitar, I know this is an old thread, but anyone interested in selling one?

I don't think Bob ever made a large quantity of guitars, so any of his custom builds are likely to be very rare, very hard to find, and very expensive.

On his homepage you can still buy a new guitar made by Bob: http://bobhartmanguitars.com/

If it is a good quality guitar the price is actually ok, though these days even rather cheap guitars can be very good, so it is hard to say how it would compare to other very good guitars with a rather low price.

I would be surprised if it was not a good guitar, he says it is one of his best. Interesting touch with regard to the wiring - never tried that myself. I might consider buying one. It would be interesting if he started building more guitars again. I have read very positive comments and it seems his prices were very fair. At the moment I feel like I have got the guitars I need most of the time. But it is always interesting to consider new options - who knows what you might find.

If he still made these, I would be interested: http://www.houseofbob.com/worshiper.html

Not that I play worship music. I would just imagine given Bob's description that it would fit my style of playing very well. Bob made quite many stratocaster style guitars over the years. It seems the guitars he builds are a bit more vintage style than what we have mostly seen him playing over the years. I don't have any problem with that since i like the good old guitars the best.

The original asking price when you bought them from Bob was $1900 with a hard shell case. Though that is quite a lot of money I feel quite sure it would be worth it given the materials used and the interesting ways Bob has designed it. I cannot tell what others would ask for their used Jekyll and Hyde guitars.

It would be interesting to know a bit more about the guitars Bob made. I have been reading about them the last couple of days but I don't know how many he sold. Some of his ideas and twists on rathter traditional models are very interesting and the prices appear to be absolutely fair - perhaps even a bit too cheap (no problem for me!). Hard to tell when you have not tried them though.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a Jekyll and Hyde guitar. I can provide some specs on the original if you are interested in modding another guitar to resemble the Jekyll and Hyde guitar. That would be a rather big project though.

Thank you. The best source I know is a saved version of his webpage: https://web.archive.org/web/20040210214 ... djandh.htm

Here is a picture: https://web.archive.org/web/20040210160 ... /jandh.htm

And here you find lots of pictures: https://web.archive.org/web/20041010190 ... om/bhg.htm

It is going to make it easier to copy features you really like. Making a copy of the entire guitar would be quite a project since there are many small twists.

Thanks Curt! Again, very helpful. I was thinking the same thing- maybe finding a project LP style and work from there. You have any idea how the black dye is used to get that look?
