Interesting, but why not put them all together and sell it as an album?

Because the current trends say the old album paradigm is dead. Releasing a song per month is better an has more longevity than releasing an album all at once.

Most bands do press too early, release all of the videos simultaneously and/or too early. Albums have traction for a week or two and then the bulk of the sales are over. Nobody cares.

It takes about 1 MILLION downloads for an artist to make $90.00. So....why should the artists care? I don't know why they are recording anything at all. If it is for fun, then fine. But, they aren't going to do any significant numbers, to cover the expenses of making an album.

About the sales of the first album. Does anyone know the numbers?

Not bad. I wish that CPR's production sounded as good as TUOSS.

Pass. Not an original song. If I wanted generic P&W song, I would turn on Christian radio.

Nothing unique or special about this song.

Perhaps this is their attempt at getting radio airplay.

Where do you get that number from? I have been unable to find anything to support it. Here is one example:

"Total number of streams: 1,023,501

Total revenue: $4,955.90"

https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2016/0 ... royalties/

And looking at this article which is updated for 2018 paint a different picture as well: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/0 ... -pay-2018/

I know you are talking about downloads and not streams but streaming services allow you to download as well and i would suppose that "classic" downloads in which they receive no further pay would pay them even more making the real number much higher.

That streaming data payout is only relevant to that artist, what an advertiser bids for space is multidimensional.

Here is a good one to start with. This is about a songwriter. But, lets say the average band has four members. The band gets paid .00397 (on Spotify as of 2018) and has to divide that 4 ways. So, .000925 goes to each, but only after they have recouped their studio expenses. The average album is costing $15k-20k. So, it doesn't take long for that little amount from streaming is gone.

I read a story about a band that released a silent album on Spotify that their fans could play 24/7, and they raked in the cash... until Spotify changed their terms of service and made such albums against policy.

Yes that was crazy. They used the money to fund a free tour to the places where their silent album had the most streams (if I remember correctly). Eventually it was taken down but it did make them quite a bit of money.

There is no money selling albums. The current trend is to release singles as you record them to keep the interest up. A good single creates as much interest short term as one album. It's just how things are now. This band will never rake in the money. There isn't enough interest from people with money.
