I did, and he definitely does! I'm not really sure what Joe Cocker sounds like, but I know Bob Seger.

Definitely check out Steve Taylor’s early albums. “I Predict 1990” is a classic.

Now that you mention it, you're right!

I know of a lot of other classic Christian bands but I can't think of who they compare too I should make a list, there might even be more than 100 if you count some of the smaller ones

Yeah, I've thought about doing that before, may be I will. I always include the smaller ones, sometimes they're better than the big ones!

That could be an interesting list to have. Anyone could contribute more bands if they thought of any everyone else didn't too. You could also have the genre listed next to the band names, even the years the band existed. Should probably be on off topic though.

Back in the day, there used to be such a chart on the wall of the music section at the local Christian book store. It was a large poster which listed several popular CCM artists with a “sounds like” section next to the artist name. No idea who published it, and I haven’t been able to find a copy of it on the web yet. It must be out there somewhere.

I know what you mean. I have found websites online which have similar charts... but not the one you are looking for.

I suppose Christian bands really should not be thought of as Christian versions of or alternatives to secular bands. "This is the Christian AC/DC"," they are like a clean Guns N Roses", etc... But it is still quite useful as a comparison, especially since everyone knows what Led Zeppilen and very few know what New Jerusalem sounds like.

I don't see what's the matter with it because what if someone who loves Ratt but would prefer someone Christian? Well then Whitecross can step in. It's awesome imo
