Songs For Upcoming Concerts

Post by HudsonPethead » Fri Oct 25, 2019 7:50 am

Petra (John Schlitt, Bob Hartman, Greg Bailey, Cristian Borneo and John Lawry) will be reuniting next year for a concert in Missouri and maybe more concerts will come.

If you could choose, modify the band's setlist. What songs would you choose for upcoming concerts?

!!!! You mean like, pick the songs they'd play at a concert? I would choose:

You Are My Rock (by far their best song ever)
Whole World
All Fired Up
Open Book
This Means War
Just Reach Out
Underground
Armed and Dangerous
Stand
Kings Ransom
Fools Gold
Altar Ego

I just couldn't see John singing any Greg X. Volz songs.

Jekyll and Hyde
Test of Time
Right Place
Rose Coloured Stained Glass Windows (though maybe that's be better for Greg, not John)
Judas' Kiss
Beyond Belief
I am on the Rock
Minefield
Hit You Where You Live
Think Twice
Good News
Graverobber

I know Petra with John performed “For Annie.” There were probably other Greg songs as well, but I can’t remember at the moment.

I remember John Slick never liked that song, he said the string section was out of tune when it was recorded  It is a beautiful song though, and one of Petra's saddest

Haven’t heard that one yet- suppose that one is going on my list as well... Just Reach Out would be one of their saddest imo.

John's done a bunch of Greg's songs. If you want to see John doing Greg's songs, this is one of John's first concerts with Petra. Not amazing sound quality but pretty good for a fan recording and a good idea of how it would sound:

I mean, I know he has done some and I'm sure it doesn't sound terrible, but it wouldn't be my choice.

Greg has a different range. Although John can sing high, naturally his is a bit lower imo

Yeah, yeah yeah, exactly my reason! And why I prefer John's voice for Petra better.
