Petra - Australia/New Zealand Tour (?) 1988

I recently visited a library near Nashville and browsed through several years of old issues of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) Magazine.

In the March 1988 issue, I found the following dates listed for Petra:
Sydney (Mar 05) Newcastle (06) Brisbane (07) Hobart (09) Aubrey (10) Melbourne (11) Perth (12) Adelaide (13) Auckland (15)

The Mar 04, 1988, issue of the Sydney Morning Herald Australian newspaper also advertises a show the following evening at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, which would seem to confirm that the band was at least scheduled to play in Australia during that same time frame.

So, does anyone know if the band did, indeed, play Australia and New Zealand in early 1988? I do know, from newspaper articles and fan recollections, that they toured Australia Feb/Mar of 1986, when Schlitt was first brought on board, and then again in Nov/Dec of that same year. But this is the first I've heard about a 1988 Australian tour.

I'm looking to add verified shows to our tour history page, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Mate Petra toured Sep 1989 with On Fire.
I was at the Brisbane show 14 Sep 1989.

Hey Bert.
Yeah mate Festival Hall Brisbane.
All manor of international acts played there...Stryper..Led Zeppplin,Beatles, Wings.. list goes on..

I went to the Sydney concert for the On Fire tour, the venue was the Hills Centre, Castle Hill.
I don't remember the date, but it was a brilliant concert

Thanks for the info. The date for the Sydney/Castle Hill show was Sep 15, 1989.

Do you happen to recall if there was an opening act for the Sydney stop?

The opening act for the Pn Fore tour in 1989 was an Australian band called Swordfish.

I was also at the Sydney concert that year.

I can confirm that the early 88 tour did occur, because my youth group went but my parents thought I was too young to go.
