I'd have to listen again and see, but from what I remember he sounds the same.

No he doesn’t sound the same, but that’s because he is 70 years old! But I think he does fine considering.

I meant on the original recording on NSD. It doesn't sound like Greg to me, but obviously who else could it be?

It sounds like 1980 Greg! Try the Cry 3, he really does sound different (younger) there.

He's singing in a lower register, which is somewhat unusual for him. Also, his voice is layered using multiple takes which gives it a bigger, fuller sound. It's an old recording technique, but to my knowledge, this is the only Petra song that uses it on the lead vocals.

Something else that might be a factor is NSD was recorded over a 2 year period, several of the songs were originally meant for Washes Whiter Than but the record label didn't want to go that direction so they were put on the back burner. I remember hearing the The Coloring Song was one of the last songs added to NSD and was pushed on the band by the label.

He has a different timbre to his voice than what he did. Like all men, as we age, we lose some girth down in the lower range and he compensated.

Gee, I didn't know it took 2 years! I have odd memories of recording every song on that album during a few days. Unless I'm mistaken, there was nothing added from a previous record date.

So,once again, over the course of a couple of years, and a couple of topics, (Louie drumming for example)...we have Mr."first-hand knowledge" being contradicted by an actual memeber of Petra.

Pretty sure "Killing My Old Man" was recorded for an earlier album, but StarSong was afraid the lyrics would be misunderstood as promoting rebellion against parents. Apparently they changed their mind for the release of Never Say Die.

That's what I've heard, if it's true

That was my understanding as well. Not sure if it was actually ever “finished” though.
