I ripped all my CDs in 2002, probably should do them again.

Suppose it depends on how you rip it. I use lossless FLAC these days which plays back gapless by default. If you're ripping to MP3 without the "gapless" flag enabled, then you would be more likely to hear when tracks aren't divided perfectly.
Gapless vs not isn’t the issue. The problem is there with all ripping methods once you listen to the tracks individually/shuffled. Only some audio editing will fix it.

My preference is to cue up the first track of an album and listen straight through to the end, so I would never notice something like that.
