The band's name is no longer "Rhapsody" - due to copyright/trademark issues, it was changed last year to "Rhapsody of Fire" - and yes, I enjoy Rhapsody very much (I actually own the band's entire discography, plus most of Luca Turilli's solo releases, and a TON of other European power metal bands too - click HERE to view my disc collection if you get really bored sometime), although I have to be in the right mood for Fabio Lione's vocals.

Since you obviously enjoy power metal and epic tales, I'd recommend you check out the AINA album "Days Of Rising Doom: The Metal Opera" - it's a rock opera consisting of many of the top names in European power metal, including members of Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire, Edguy, Helloween, Stratovarius, Kamelot, and others, plus it also features other notable musicians ranging from Glenn Hughes to Derek Sherinian and dozens of others. The story told through the music is slightly similar in style to Tolkkien's "Lord Of The Rings." The album (consisting of 2CDs/1DVD) is rather difficult to find in stores, but you can order it online for $18.00 (free shipping) from The End Records website.

Do you enjoy any progressive metal - such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Ayreon, etc.?

My brother's been playing a lot of Symphony X and Dream Theater lately. I really enjoy it, especially Symphony X. Pretty trippy stuff! I saw John Petrucci on the G3 tour a few months ago. He's amazing!

Just got back from a Decemberadio and Jars of Clay concert. Phil Stacey sang the national anthem. Phil went to college around here.

Well, the last couple of mornings, I've been listening to the latest Petra collection album.

Skillet is just plain incredible. Saw them in concert a few weeks ago. Seventh Day Slumbers new album is great too. Disciple, Day of Fire, Flyleaf, Fireflight, Decyfer Down, RED, Daughtry.

I listen to the radio a bit too, but the CCM stations here are awful as usual. We use Napster to get a lot of new music.

I've been stuck on the band Styx, plus solo stuff from Styx members Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan, for about the last 2 months. Doesn't help matters that I've seen them in concert (and met them!) twice in that time...

Other stuff in my CD player recently:
David Wells (www.davidwellsonline.com) This guy is awesome, and a Christian!
Duran Duran (first 3 albums)
Asia
Kansas
Camel
Iona
REO Speedwagon
Relient K
Kitaro
quite a bit of classical stuff

OK, so my tastes bounce around a bit, I love music!

I finally bought the Decemberadio CD and I'm really impressed. This group cooks. Their sound is somewhat southern rock with a touch of blues, but they also remind me of Aerosmith from the 70's.
Great album I recommend it to everyone.

ApologetiX

Post by Michael » Wed Jul 04, 2007 12:29 pm

We went and heard ApologetiX Monday night, and they ROCKED! They were totally tight. I had bought one of their CDs already, and we picked up two more (or three, depending on if you count a double CD as one or two... or, if you consider 10 songs as one CD worth, we picked up six, because every CD they make has 20 songs on it!) If you don't believe they're awesome, check out some of the free MP3s (complete tracks!) from their latest CD, Wordplay.

The band I've mostly spent my time listening to is DOWNHERE.
I've just become a fan of theirs.
It's a pity they may never do a concert in Brazil 'cause the band is not much known in here yet.

There is a lota live videos of theirs on youtube.
