Nah. I doubt they will. It is too hard to recoupe expenses. With the global economy being what it is, it will be harder than it was pre covid. Any new and original music will be written by Greg for the most part. You can hear his music on his solo releases.

Re: Petra back to the rock 3
I really loved the first Back to the Rock album and was thrilled to learn that Greg X. Volz was continuing on with a second classic album despite Bob Hartman & Mark Kelly's departure, albeit with a different band name. The second album, however, sounded sub par. I remember my initial thought after hearing it was that it sounded like a rough demo cut. When I saw the album artwork, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a fan designed album cover (which I still proudly display as my profile pic).
I know that Greg has boasted in the past that he's got a lot of original songs ready to be released. My fear is that it will sound like all his other self produced albums.

The only way the second CPR record got down was by a handful of people giving them the money, and the guys worked for free. So, if someone here wants to cough up 25k or so, I am sure they could motivate the guys. If I had the money, I would pay for Volz to track the whole Back To The Street record. That record would sound better with his vocals on it. Musically, to my ear, it fits better before Beat The System.

If Cpr does a new album i think there should be a song from back to the street. Imagine Greg singing Fools Gold. Perfect song for a new album.

It's a dream that will never come true! Greg would never sing Petra"s songs that John sang!ThePetrafan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:28 pmIf Cpr does a new album i think there should be a song from back to the street. Imagine Greg singing Fools Gold. Perfect song for a new album.

If the money was on the table, he probably would. Those are Bob's songs and they are very Volz like.

Bob said in an interview that Back to the Street was written for Greg's voice, but I have to disagree...it sounds WAAAAAYYYYY better with John. To each, their own, of course but John has a MUCH larger natural vocal range than Greg!

Do we need to set up crowdfunding to make this dream become a reality?

Re: Petra back to the rock 3
I don't know if John has a better range. It just seems that Greg mostly sang in his upper register with Petra because that's how the songs were written. "The Coloring Song" is one of the rare songs where Greg sings in a lower register, which he has no problem with. I, personally, would love to hear how Greg would sound on Back to the Street, not to replace John's work but as an alternative "What if?" album. Although I doubt there would be any interest in such a project beyond the few of us on this forum.
As for another CPR release, I'm not interested. I wasn't even interested in their first release after they stopped calling themselves Classic Petra. Once Bob Hartman walked away from that incarnation of the band, they should have abandoned the Petra name and made a proper go of it like The Union of Sinners and Saints which struck out in their own direction while still paying homage to their roots. We really didn't need another cover album.
