I just noticed on Michael's "Guide to Petra" website (in the Greatest Hits section) that there is no mention of Word Records' "Petra: The Definitive Collection".

Here is a track listing (according to Christian Book Distributors)
Track 01: I Love The Lord
Track 02: Dance
Track 03: Beyond Belief
Track 04: Destiny
Track 05: Just Reach Out
Track 06: No Doubt
Track 07: Creed
Track 08: I Am On The Rock
Track 09: We Need Jesus
Track 10: God Gave Rock And Roll To You ("Come And Join Us" version)

This is a good "greatest hits" album, and you can't beat the price. I bought it for $8.00. Plus, it's the type of album you'd give to a friend if they wanted to hear what Petra was about. Some of their best known songs and a couple of ballads...a good overview of their catalog.

One question, though. Why...why...why did they put that moldy oldie "God Gave Rock And Roll To You" on there? I mean, John didn't even sing on that! They should have put a track from GOD FIXATION on instead, like maybe..."St. Augustine's Pears". That would have made it perfect! 8)

THE COLORING SONG is basically a 'repackaged' version of THE EARLY YEARS, except the following:
1. Different packaging design
2. Different title
3. Released by Sterling Entertainment Group, through EMI / Capitol Music (EMI-Capitol Music Special Markets)
4. Star Songs FIRST version released in 1996, while this one released in 1999

Other than that, it is basically the same album.

by the way, thank you for the correct link.

Hmm, the Definitive Collection...the latest 'Greatest Hits" Album to end all "Greatest Hits" Albums. :D

Yes, because it "defines" all the others. Image

(Actually, it's part of a pretty extensive series of "definitive collection" CDs for different artists. Very similar to the "the early years" series in which Petra also has an entry.)

Speaking of "Greatest Hits" album, go to christianbook.com and enter the title "The Ultimate Collection" and see the result. I guarantee you that Petra isn't the only band who has seen an "Ultimate Collection" released.
