First of all, It fabulous to read the Petra-experience off the artits who recorded that....All of them where blessed by Petra.

The Album its a great idea..., more if you know how many repeted collectionsare edited (and we talk a lot of that)...

My favourites are Yaweh Love, Rose Colored...and Pied Pipper...and of course... Judas Kiss version!

I wrote once that would be very cool a last tribute with other christians artits

Blessings

Holy Cow. Can you say doodie canned on this site?

I don't like it because I had never heard of the bands, and they were too far off from the (IMO) spirit of the songs. It's like those indie punkers and underground bands covering Stryper. Once you have heard the standard, it is pretty hard to accept another drastically different interpretation. If you like it listen to it. I threw my copy away the day I bought it.

I love about 70 % of what's on the disc. It's where I discovered Plankeye. I got into them because of their power/grunge ballad remake of "All the King's Horses." Passafist intrigued me as well. Sarah Jahn is better than advertised on NSD as well.

It's not in my doodie can. It's in my doodie-pod.

It's a hit or miss album for me. I love Sixpence, Jars of Clay, Grammatrain, and Caprill Champion's covers, but highly dislike MxPx, The Stand, and Plankeye's covers (sorry Jonathan).

I really dig the Grammatrain version of Not Of This World.

That was Galactic Cowboys. Grammatrain did "Wake Up."

Kevin Max did the writing for that, I think; his skills as a writer impress me. I loved the comparison to the epics.

That almost sounds like it could be a review of Double Take.

I can say with a fair degree of certainty that MxPx's version of "I Can Be Friends With You" is how Petra should have done it back in 1979.

In general, I like the album for what it is. Except that version of Pied Piper sounds way too much like the theme from Friends. You can pretty much sing right along using the Friends lyrics. Try it.

IMHO....

On it's own merit...this album is really not that bad at all...

BUT

Comparing it with the original songs...like comparing apples with oranges.

On my computer, I was comparing the two sets, no contest...The original is better than the remake.

I agree whole heartedly with what Michael said in his website (www.guidetopetra.com). Check it out.

By the way, adrinux, watch your mouth in here. Next time, you might need this in your mouth:

Can I go off topic for a moment here and say I'm laughing my head off over Jonathan's picture?

I liked the "Never Say Dinosaur" tribute for the most part, although I do understand it won't be to everybody's taste. I don't think the idea was for them to do the songs the way they were done originally, and you shouldn't really try to compare the songs on this album to the originals. It took me awhile to get used to the different way some of the songs were done when I was used to hearing the original versions, but I thought it was overall a good effort.

I'm going to have to drag it out again, it's been awhile since I've listened to it.

I just love this album because I don't expect it to be ORIGINAL songs played by others bands. I see it more like a tribute, bands bringing their style into a Petra song. And I got very interested on the bands and will be checking them.

The only thing I don't like is that female voice singing the coloring song and road to Zion. though it's not the same person, they both has a loud high voice. and it sounds like they were auto-tuned. it sounds just like those Pop Artists I watch sometimes on MTV

:P

And sorry about the *****-canned, I was a little annoied that someone had written a so bad-eyed review of the album.
