I changed that one thing, Sue. I also told Greg about it, and I think he's corrected it. Thanks for the help there. Here is a video about one of the songs off of one of Greg's more recent albums, "No Greater Love".

I received the CD today (perfectly in time for Christmas...). The CD has only 7 new songs and 2 old recordings that have never been available on CD before. O Holy Night was released on vinyl single in 1988 and The Christmas Gift was released on cassette in 1992. In 1987 Greg also released a vinyl single with Hark The Herald Angels Sing, but he made a new recording for this album. In case you might be interested...

I must say that many people on this forum think that Greg X. Volz has lost his touch since leaving Petra. Others think the same of John. However here are some projects by them that proves this theory wrong:
Volz
1. The River Is Rising
2. Come Out Fighitng
3. No Room In The Middle
4. The Exodus
5. No Greater Love

Schlitt
1. Shake
2. Vertical Expressions
3. The Grafting

I will admit, Volz went the wrong way with his music style by doing all the praisish albums. I listened to Let The Victors In, In God's Presence, and The Next Sphere, and they are no where near as good as the albums I've listed. You may think differently, but now you know the albums to check out. Schlitt proves that he hasn't lost a thing on great tracks such as Show Me The Way, Judas Kiss(Live), Lord Reign In Me, and the new song that's available on Fused Management Shoutlife and MySpace pages: The Grafting. He shows that even though his voice IS changing, he is still the humble, rockin', man of God he was when he joined Petra in '86.

To those that ordered this album, what did you think? I bought it and I listened to O' Holy Night a thousand times. It was such a good take on that song. What did you like/dislike?

I have the first four solo releases of Greg's and have had him in for concerts where he performed many of them live. He has an excellent voice, and those four albums are great. It's a shame they didn't really go anywhere, because even the lyrics are top-notch, imho.

It feels kinda weird to listen to Christmas music long after Christmas has come and gone. So I'll give the album another listen next season. I thought the song selection was pretty conservative, though.

As a collector I'm happy that he didn't include the 1987 recording of Hark The Herald Angels Sing on this CD. Because now the vinyl single still holds unique music!
Are you aware that the recording of O Holy Night is the one from 1988 and that The Christmas Gift is also an old recording (1992)?

That's what people have been telling me. I thought the entire album was new, because I couldn't tell the voice was younger(and you guys know what I mean). It was a great album, though, in my opinion.

well i know the quality of the praise songs were not the same as the other River records, but i read somewhere that he had been planning a secular release and God told him to drop everything and do praise music. So ya gotta go with it even if it's not popular.
