You make a good point, but I guess I just figure we should speak to those who will listen. It does little good to speak when few will hear us. I think the difference between Stryper's comeback and Petra's is that Stryper left the seen abruptly, while they were still at the top of their game (at least musically) and people were hungry for more. Petra made a string of albums that weren't exactly what their fans were hoping for, before they refocused and did Jekyll and Hyde. This meant the old fan base was already cynical about what to expect from any new album and therefore less willing to try it, where as the old Stryper fans had high expectations from Reborn, but were sadly somewhat disappointed in what they actually got. Styper has a new album coming this year and I think the fans will give them another chance, but if this one isn't what they're expecting, it probably won't bode well for Stryper either.

But if the vision of Petra was really just to reach youth and they can't do that anymore and if the choice is between being able to that or not doing it all, I guess they have their answer. I would think it would still be of value to minister to the middle aged people out there who still like to rock, but if they don't feel that way or they don't want to rock anymore, what can I say?

Speaking of which, and I'm gonna mention this several times on a couple of posts, I was listenening to The Grafting on the internet today. Then after my basketball game, I was listening to the Petra CD, Unseen Power. I listened to the song "Hey World" and I noticed that The Grafting and it have several key things that are the same. They both talk about giving a child a second chance and several other things.

Can't help this one. It's both.

Christians are not the same as secular fans. As Christians mature, in the Lord and in age, they go towards talk radio, or other genres. The Christian market is NOT the same as the secular counterpart.

Plus, Petra did a crappy job (for whatever reason) for retaining customers. That is something that ALL bands must face. christian music is a hyper niche market, fractions of the big pie.

Lack of label vision and execution killed Petra, because the guys were able to dish out the goods, PERIOD.
