There's only 1 song that John wrote some lyrics for???
I thought he had written more...
By the way, I guess this Kevan Cajka is the same as Kevan Cyka? His name is written different in the credits of Everlife, which was produced by Dan Needham and Kevan Cajyka.

Yes, John had input on most of the songs, but officially only co-wrote one.
Very observant, p-freak.... I asked about this too when I was proofing the texts. Kevan Cajka/Cyka is the same person, and uses different names for writing, and another name for publishing rights.
Do a google search on both names, and you'll find it both ways.

Songs sound great, John's voice is great...I can't wait to get my copy! It's nice to hear another album from John. I will do what I can to direct people to his site and petramerchandise to buy the album.
Thanks for the update Sue,
James

You're welcome, James. Enjoy.
Gary, I doubt those songs will see the light of day. They were good - I agree, but Grafting is better!

Sounds like the album may have a few songs worth listening to, but I really don't think it's the album he should have made if wants carry the bulk of Petra fans into solo career. I'm not just talking about the Petheads either. We are too small a group to support anyone's career. I'm talking about the average person out there who loved the music of Petra and John's past solo work. I mean even Swine was a better fit for that group than this album will be. This album is basically adult contemporary pop a little (very little) rock mixed in. John's voice was built for rock and roll and this album is just going to tell everybody that John has gotten to old to rock anymore. They will move on to someone who can.

I understand what you are saying about this album, I must say I was very disappointed when I first heard it as a Petra/John fan.
Having said that, it has grown on me quicker than every other change in music style that Petra/John has gone through.
John's voice is build for rock I agree, and his voice has developed into a heavier rock voice over the years; Going to this style must have be hard, but he is no spring chicken so this is going to be better for him tour wise.
Over all I am pumped about the new album, I will buy extra copies for my mates.

Yeah, but this is where John is now. So, you could hear him sing rock half-hearted, or this whole-hearted. This is a good side of John and I think at this stage in his life, as he is turning inward (it sounds like he is anyway), his message requires this type of music. The lyrics and spirit must be reflected in the music.

Preacherman, it's a new day.
Some times you have to let the past be the past, and move forward instead of hanging on to what was.
Can John still rock? Absolutely. Can he rock out with the best of them? Yes. Does he want to continue in the same direction he's been going in for the past 20+ years? No.
This album is meant not to distance Petra fans, or ignore their loyalty to Petra's rock sound over the years. Of course not. Hopefully Petra's fans will also like this album even though it's not the rock they're used to.
This album will hopefully gain new listeners with a different sound (for John) and a different direction, lyrically.
As Brent said - and John himself, if you've been reading his messages and press releases - this is where he's at is now.

I loved the album!
I know it's very different of Petra's rock sound.
But I think that John is going to the right way, new days, new sound and it will bring new listeners, as Sue said.
God bless you John in this new stage!

I love John bascially for his big heart and strong voice and I know he is going in a different direction these days, but there is one style of music I can't listen too and thats country. I hate the twang in the guitar, the giity up bass lines and just about everything else there is to do with country; Saying that I'm not a really big fan of the album. The first song on the video is a country song and most likely to be put on country radio; The second song is AC and I really like it. I've listen to all the clips on the site and my ears are hearing some songs I can't stand, but also some songs that are really great and will enjoy for history. I will buy the CD but it probably won't be in my changer/MP3 that often.
I'm sorry I've never been known to be politically correct in my words or thinking, so hopefully I didn't offend anyone.

BTW: I think it's funny that some of you already are discussing the new album, when all you have heard is 60 sec. of the beginning of trax!
This new solo album is totally awesome, - I have heard all of it

It's an incredible piece of work, both musically and lyrically.
And John rocks too! As always!
