I've never heard of this chick, but that is not unusual. I just find the concept of the show to be wrong. I'm not sure exactly how the other Christian artists mentioned fit into the show, but I guess any publicity is good publicity.

They could have made it sound less like an "American Idol" or "Reality TV" sort of thing. There's nothing wrong per se with having a desire to be in the Christian music business or with promo stuff, but the motive should be to please God, not be a "star".

It's possible something could have been lost in editing, and you can't be absolutely sure how much of this was written from the perspective of the artist or person writing it. You can only get an incomplete take at best from what you read in articles.

We put this announcement up over a week ago on jws.com:

There's another site who picked up this same press release:

I'm guessing there will be more.

Did you watch the video clip?

Lane says, "Anyone who dreams of doing something big can live it out with me".... highlight the dilemmas, the failures and successes of Lane's quest to break into the Christian music industry....
I don't see any bizarre-ness or 'star' wanna-be in this release at all, really. It's a series following a singer's attempt to get into 'the biz.' She never states she's doing it for her own gain (though naturally that is part of it).

In John's case, he fits in because when Erica was 9 years old, she was at a bible camp. While at the camp, they were playing Petra music, and while she was listening to the song (I don't know what one) at camp she unmistakably knew -and felt God's calling - that Christian music was to be in her future.

Putting John in the show really came about as a fluke: the producer noticed that John was to be in Dallas Jan. 22. He called me to see if John had any time to film a quick segment. So I crammed the schedule, made it happen, and there you have it.

I think I wouldn't watch this if I didn't know that John would be on it.

Did you notice on their website that this series will be available on DVD?

Why wouldn't you watch it?

Well, because I wouldn't know about it...

But seriously, I'm not really into these kinds of so-called real-life programs. That I wouldn't watch it, doesn't have anything to do with the concept of a christian artist trying to find a way to make it in the industry. I'd rather watch a good movie, or a Petra-concert!

And now with John on the show, I'll probably only watch 1 episode.

Today's top Christian music artists, Everlife, Casting Pearls, Michael Tait of DC Talk, Family Force 5 and John Schlitt of Petra, just to name a few, will also share their personal stories of faith and the ups and downs of the music business.
That's what I found bizarre.
