I don't know the first song written, but the ones recorded first were:
Stand
Face of God
Your Eyes
Face of God
Lord Have Mercy
Gravity
Carry On
Why do you ask?

Well, isn't this actually John fourth solo album? He had a third album ready in 2001, which was supposed to be released under the title Hope Marches On. That one got stuck in the process of reviving Petra, cause John didn't want to put out a solo-record when Petra wasn't doing well.
I think there were three different samples released from the song "I'm OK". There also was a Soul 2 Soul Radio Show with this song. So that one must be around somewhere. But we (not including Sue

) never got to hear the rest of the album.
I think that "It's About Love" which ended up on a 2004 Liberty n Justice album, also was originally written for Hope Marches On.
"Ready To Go" was a totally different project (and nowadays extremely hard to find).
All songs for the Grafting are new. Didn't they start writing for this in 2006 or maybe even 2007.

Where did you find that one??? It looks like this came from Hope Marches On.
I guess John won't be too happy that some of these songs are floating around.

I found this song in another forum.
I don't remember exactly where. I'll try to remember.
A lot of people in this world must have this, it's available in a puplic forum of Christian Downloads.
I just found this song, I just put it to download here in the petra zone just to have more informations about it.
Maybe you Petheads could tell more about it.
I'm not the person who put this on line and is sharing this song with everybody.
I just upload this song and put this link here.
If have problem, please tell me that I will erase this link right now!
I'm sorry!
Excuse me for the problem!
I don't want to see John angry with for this one!

God bless you all!!!

Hey, I wouldn't worry about it HudsonPethead. I imagine since there are, what, several hundred live performances out on the web (and some none too flattering), John won't mind this song.
However, if you can find out where it came from, I'll bet Sue would like to know!

Sorry Hudson, I didn't mean to suggest that you had something to do with this. And I am sure that John won't be angry with you. I think he will be glad you found out that these songs are floating around. Then he (or Sue) can try to do something about it.
It is truly a great find! This is extremely rare.
Calico, I think this is from a different order than bootlegs. This is original studio material that shouldn't have left the studio...

No problem brother!
I understand what you're saying. And I agree.
I just want you know that I'm not sharing this song, just found it out!
And I got surprised, I've never heard it before.
But please,
Why these songs had never appeared and why this cd never came out?
And in The Grafting are all different songs....
p-freak, do you want that I erase this song from that link?
God bless you guys!!!

Holy cow. That must be a drummer that plays his hi-hat on the right (if he is right handed), or the engineer has some funly panning going on. I have never heard of a hard right snare, hard left hi-hat mix. I like the tune. To me, this is vintage John.

We have "Ready to Go" on this page:

It's not all that rare... John's church was selling this compilation for quite a while. It's a very good album overall.
In regards to the songs from the tentatively titled "Hope Marches On," that was to be John's 3rd album. But as p-freak said, it never happened due to a number of reasons. These songs were never released in any way.... and he's right -- "It's About Love" was written originally for John's solo project.
"I'm OK" did play in full on Soul2Soul.... we had a short acoustic clip on the old website:

The full interview is still up:

I am amazed that this "Near to Me" song is out there - and who knows how many more from that album are floating around. There's only ONE person that I know of who had a copy of this... and he sure shouldn't have given it to anyone. Apparently he did.
This really shouldn't be out there... Hudson, if you can remember where you got this from I'd appreciate your telling me.
It's a whole different ballgame than bootlegs.

Sue, Who do I need to call to get a Mechanical License for a band to play and record Jekyll and Hyde? Should I call Bob or is there a publishing company?
