Petra riff on ABC News?

Did anyone see ABC's World News Tonight on Friday (the 17th)? They had a section on the history of cell phones, noting all the things they can do now, including download music. They had a second or two riff that I almost swear has got to be from "It's All about Who You Know". Anyone else agree?

There's a commercial that has a good 15-20 second riff that sounds almost exactly like part of the guitar intro to Smashing Pumpkins' "Cherub Rock", but it almost seems like it isn't at the same time. It made me wonder if people who do music for commercials somehow unknowingly come up with something similar sounding to a song that already exists or possibly rip off another song that people may not know that well.

I think Petra used the famous "Purple Haze" riff at the end of "Last Daze"...as well as the snake-charmer song in the guitar solo in "Heart of a Hero". Anybody else notice?
