I took a lot more on the 2nd show because I spent some time looking at the instruction manual the night before - so I could remember how to shoot with my digital SLR! SO different than my film cameras.

Yeah, you missed it! It was so cool... John was really putting it out, doing some of the wails and all - just like the real recording.

I was just grinning the whole time!

I was actually shocked that this happened considering his position on it the night before. But, I am glad that it did. I think the house band used the words "redeeming the music". That is a good thing to do. God created all things. God allows man to create from what he (God) created. The devil inspires man to use what God created for his purposes. Taking them back is like giving the devil the "Christian finger" in his face. "Take that stupid!" I am all for it as long as it is not corny.

Personally, if I had recorded a rock anthem like that tune and I had come full circle from death to life, and had been a tool in God's hand for so many years, I would take pride in singing a Christian parody of my own tune. What a great feeling that must be to sing it for God one last time.

Up until that morning John WASN'T going to do that song. The band had asked me weeks ago about it and John had declined.

So when he came out for the last song of the service I, more than anyone, was shocked out of my socks. I think someone from the band must have bugged him again about it that morning and he relented. It's been nearly 30 years since he's last sang that song.

Here are the re-written lyrics:

"Jesus Gives Us a Reason"

Did you see any action?
Did you make any friends?
Would you like some direction
From the Son of Man?
He's been walking beside you
Since you've been able to see.
Jesus gives us a reason
for you to finally be free.

Did you have any bad dreams?
Did you break any glass?
He would be your companion
If you give Him a chance.
You keep walking in circles,
Wiping the tears from your eyes.
Jesus gives us a reason
for never crying out why, yeah, yeah.

He saved my life from going down for the last time.
With His sweet love, keeps you walking down the right line.
He brings a good healing ain't had in such a long time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.

Have you ever been lonely?
Do you have any fun?
Do you ever think of Him?
He is the holy one, yeah.
He can give you the answers.
He'll always tell you the truth.
Jesus gives us a reason,
for me to tell it to you.

Jesus gives us a reason
Jesus gives us a reason, yeah
Jesus gives us a reason.

He saved my life from going down for the last time.
With His sweet love, keeps you walking down the right line.
He brings a good healing ain't had in such a long time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.

He saved my life from going down for the last time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.
He saved my life from going down for the last time.

Sue, you just beat me to posting the lyrics! I didn't know you got them too.

It was great weekend. I was fun to meet you Brent, as well as hanging out with all the Pet (Schlitt) Heads.

Rumor has it there may be a video out there of Jesus Gives Us a Reson with John!

Watch your step and watch out for flying saws. LOL. Those were great but painful stories that contributed to my nightmares. Well, maybe it was that and all of that bad food and sooooohda.

Sue..did your feet get cold without socks?

Tim, I got the lyrics weeks ago to give to John to look at.

Brent -- my feet were like ICICLES! Oh no... wait - that was YESTERDAY when we got 10 inches of SNOW and I had to shovel and snowblow all that garbage! Welcome back home. I had to drink a LOT of sooooda to stay hydrated.

Here's what it looked like around town:
