Schlitt-Sale - Buy Up a Bit of Petra History
Below is the next newsletter... but thought I'd post it here first (after all, the original Petheads who are still chatting away deserve to get the lowdown FIRST, don't ya think?).
------------
IT'S A SCHLITT-SALE!
It's time to clean out the basement! Gear and miscellaneous items that have been used by Petra and John Schlitt over the years are now on sale to whoever needs some equipment - or for those who want to pick up a little piece of Petra history.
A keyboard, guitar, guitar straps, cases, recording equipment - a little bit of everything - it all needs to go!
http://www.johnwschlitt.com/4sale/index.htm
See items and prices; shipping costs are extra (shipping from Nashville, TN), or arrangements can be made for pick-up.
Items can be autographed by John if desired.
HAPPY SHOPPING!

Ahhh shux. I want the Oberheim that went inside of that blue case. THAT would be cool.
If someone is wanting to get started with digital recording, those DA88s are ok. You have to chase tape for them. They were picky. Tascam still services them. They sound ok. Petra used these on the road in the Pete/Kevin days.
What brand is that reel-to-reel? Have the heads been relapped?

You're asking me? I have no clue... send an email to sale@johnwschlitt, and someone who actually knows equipment can tell you! What brand is that reel-to-reel? Have the heads been relapped?

I'm sure he didn't use the guitar cases or straps (singers use mics, not guitars).Do you know if John has actually used any of this stuff he's selling, or is it mostly the other guys' stuff?

John didin't use this stuff in his day to day operations. He doesn't need the recorders anymore because nobody is using those things anymore. John carries his tracks on an MP3/wav player. I don't know what he is using at his son-in-laws studio, but I am sure it is computer based (Pro Tools, Nuendo, Sonar, Logic, etc). John travels with an MP3 player for his tracks. It is easier and quicker to que. John isn't touring with a band, so no need for cases.petrafreak2009 wrote:Quick question: why is this sale going on in the first place?
Is John...*gasp*...retiring or is it truly to clear space?
John has a bunch more stuff from what he told me once. I think he is just doing what the rest of us are doing and getting rid of crap that we don't need before inflation kicks and it becomes impossible to buy or sell. Many studios, sound and production companies and bands are shedding gear right now.
The other day I bought a new microphone preamp for below dealer cost. People are freaked out about getting stuck with inventory, paying taxes or interest on it, etc.
This recession/depression is going to hit CCM hard. It is already a super niche market. Only 6-8 percent of it is rock. The majority is AC/CHR. 2-3 percent is Gospel. With Obama pushing for no tax deduction benefits for non-profit giving, I think we will see many people quit or lay low for a while.

Just cleaning out the basement... no plans to retire!
He's cleaned out alot already... this is just some more unused stuff that's been hanging around.
