Praying Man Live
Here's a clip that I haven't seen before. It features what I believe would be the last tour with John L and Bob together.

I would love to have the whole concert. A person can dream, can't they?[/code]

This footage has been available on Terje's site a long time ago. Taken from this video: http://www.petrafiles.com/petraspective ... waits.html. This concert was at The Mall, Washington, D.C., 29-July-1994. If you watch the Revival DVD, you'll see that little bits of this footage is also used there.

This concert took place shortly after I saw Petra in Peterborough, Ontario for their Wake-Up Call tour. Lisa Bevill and Dakota Motor Co. opened up for them...great show! I believe it was during the "True Love Waits" campaign because they had cards at the concert to fill out for anyone promising to practice abstinence.
Jim Cooper was with them that night which was the first time I saw Petra without a member of the "Dream Team". They played a great show and it was also the first time I had seen John S. play guitar, but can't remember if it was on "Sleeping Giant" or "Praying Man". It's possible that it could have been the Mexican Strat he has for sale on his site because the guitar he played that night was black & white.
I actually had a personal cassette copy of the concert, but the quality just wasn't that great, but it did have them singing "Nothing But the Blood".
Good Times!

I thought it should have been cooper.
But any picture I saw of him, his hair mas much shorter. I thought the colour was too light to be Lawry, but it looked like the right length.
Looking at it again, i did notice the arms. John had sticks, Jim's were thicker.

Yep that is Jim Cooper you see there. I know Lawry played on the first leg of the WUC tour because I saw them in late 1993 with Lawry and I have a black WUC tour shirt with Lawry's picture on it. I also saw Petra in the summer of 1994 on the WUC tour and Cooper was with them then and I got the same tshirt but with Cooper on it instead of Lawry. I might beonly a handful of people that have the first shirt with Lawry.

John Lawry played his last concert with Petra on New Year's Eve 1993/1994. After that Jim took over, who had been a keyboard technician for Petra for a while. Jim actually got saved at a Petra-concert during the Beat The System tour.
When Petra was in Europe in May 1994 they were still selling the t-shirts with John Lawry, so they probably sold the remaining stocks before printing new ones. I bought the shirt with Jim Cooper a couple of years ago on eBay, but my brother bought the shirt with John Lawry in May 1994.
Did anyone ever try to keep track of all the different t-shirts out there? I guess that might prove very difficult, because some shirts were probably produced in very limited quantities.

Are you saying Bob's leaving contributed to JL leaving? JL said that it was about the money that he could make producing in a studio vs. traveling around and missing life with his family. It's only my opinion, but they had to see the writing on the wall. Sales were not what they had been. Concert bookings were not what they had been. The founding member leaving and all of this in the midst of grunge hitting and the 90s pop rock dying and BOB LEAVING. I would bet so.danielaussie wrote:So Lawry left in mid 1994, Bob left in early 1995.. I wonder if Lawry leaving was an influenced on Bob retiring? must have been a factor.
