The Ultimate Pethead Concert Reviews

Post by Peter_B » Sun Jun 13, 2004 6:37 am

:D Now that the Ultimate concert is complete, please post your concert review here for those of us who were unable to be there with you. What was it like to have Original Petra and Current Petra on the same stage? Did they do any songs together? How many people were there? Song set? And please tell me there were cameras there. Post your pics (or links to them) here too. Anyone video tape it?

Review of petra reunion

Post by JekyllandHyde » Sun Jun 13, 2004 4:27 pm

What a awesome experience. The show opened up with a band from Ft. Wayne, IN. called The Migraines. The lead singer got saved at a Petra concert. They played rough for 45 minutes. Then the moment of the evening. The current players of Petra came out and played for a few songs. Then Bob and the original guys came out and did they jam. I wish I had a song list. The original drummer was not there. There was some personal issues in his life. He could not make it. My highllight of old Petra was Lucas McGraw. Seeing Bob play a banjo was well worth the trip. They played about 5 songs. They jammed on backsliding blues. Then the current Petra came back out and played for a while. The group really can jam. Paul Simmons really jams on the drums. Plus Bob showed he can still play with the best of them. He had a great guitar solo. The other electric guitarist I wish I can remember his name finished up with them on Show your power for the finale. I am so glad I made the trip from Ann Arbor, MI.

THAT WAS SO ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! That was the best Petra show I've ever been to! Not only was I finally able to see Bob play, but it was an absolute joy to see the original band. Greg Hough (spelling?) was awesome! He sang I'm Not Ashamed and wow, was that cool. He's a great guitar player, he had some great solos. Backslidin' blues was my absolute favorite, John DeGroffe (spelling?) was great on bass in that song. It looked like everyone was having fun. I couldn't even sleep last night cause I was so pumped from all of it. That's my short end of it.

The concert was fantastic. Jarod,Enosh,MNquilter,Jennifer S, Myself and others were right up front. The concert was fantastic. When Bob sang he it was better than the tape.
They started with the Current band and then put the orginal Petra in the middle. All three John D, Bob, And Greg H. were awesome. (Bill Glover was not there)Then right in the middle of their set. Bob told everyone that he needed to make a intrusment change. Yes, they started sing the blues, That's right Lucas Mcraw. John's Favorite song. It was awesome. I would have drove twice the miles and paid $100 dollars to see this concert. It was with out a doubt the best concert I ever saw......... :roll

Without a doubt the best Petra show I have ever been too. This concert absolutely captured the energy of Petra in it's prime! Paul Simmons is an asset to this band. John wailed like the good ole days. Bob played guitar like I've never seen Bob play guitar! Greg even moved around and was fantastic!

Then what we were there for. Honestly, I listen to the first Petra album once like every two, three years maybe. Bob did a great job singing! I was amazed! And the fact that allot of the songs sounded like they could actually appeal to an audiance of today was so cool. It was like seeing a classic rock band. Wait that's what it was! But the thing that blew me away the most was that in my lifetime I actually got to See and hear Lucas McGraw performed live! This concert was the most fun I've had at a concert in a long time!!!

Don't tell me some innovative person didn't figure out a way to video tape this, LOL. :)

Wish I could have been there. Of course, I wanted to go to Wisconsin for another Pethead Convention too but it doesn't look like that will be happening this summer.

I'll just have to save up my money for next summer.

Really? I don't know about that... I think the best one I ever saw was that one in Peoria, where it was 90 degrees on July 4, and this crazy guy kept running around the backside of the stage, and this other guy had amp problems and all that... but the sound was GREAT!!!

... oh yeah... sorry.... that wasn't Petra.... that was............
