I see alcoholism and Petraholism are not mutually exclusive afflictions. This flies in the face of everything Lucas McGraw, Sally and Think Twice taught me.

Re: Petra @ HeavenFest - 7/31/2010
I heard about someone called CRISTIAN BORNEO that could be the drummer of Petra in this tour.
He is from Argentina.
This is his myspace:

Does anyone know anything about it?
Thanks!

I've never heard of him. But he says he has worked with Petra... Does anyone know a bit more about this? Maybe he met them during the reunion in December 2007 in Buenos Aires or during the Farewell tour in December 2005 in Argentina?

The only thing I know about him, is he tried out for Petra some time ago and Bob seems to like him.

It is funny how people continue to mess this up.St_Augustines_Pears wrote:And you know this how? Please enlighten us with your secret knowledge.shawnpfan2010 wrote:It really is impossible. John and Louie will never happen again.
While God is sovereign, I don't think God is worried about Louie and John playing together. If he were, both of them would have had a better relationship and Louie would not have been cut/left from Petra. God has nothing to do with it. I guess some of you think that Christian employers cannot terminate their employees without some kind of spiritual bonding session, forgiveness and what not. If a Christian employee gives his Christian employer just cause (and in most states no cause), the employer can terminate. This is not about forgiveness. This is about doing a job to the terms as agreed to by a contract, being a team player, being a good boss and a good employee. Now, add the band elements (prolonged exposure to one another, stupidness, artistic differences, lack of creativity, hurt feelings, stinky farts on the buss, practical jokes, lack of sleep, etc....) it is a real scream.
Plenty of band's have members that hate one another, disagree on everything, yet work for the common good. Look at Aerosmith, Brooks and Dunn, Heart, Fleetwood Mac. We are called to love our brother, but the bible says nothing about "like". Heck. I don't like some of my family. I don't like what they do and how they treat people. But, I have to love them. Love is an action not an emotion in this case.
We have misread the bible and made it say something it doesn't, while overlooking the humanity that we are allowed to live out as demonstrated by the disciples, Paul, etc. It is ok not to play in a band together if you don't want to. You don't have to go to a specific church if you don't want to. We have lots of choices and general guidelines on how to live and worship, but nothing says we HAVE to do specific things that we once did if it is not good for us or our families.
Look at the many people who have come and gone from Petra. I can tell you for a fact that people left for personal and family reasons. Does that mean that Mark Kelly fell out of the will of God because he left to take care of his family? Did Bob fall out of the will of God because he got off of the road to share life with his son?
Petra is not some biblically mandated ministry. Ministries come and go. Bands come and go. Music comes and goes. Preachers come and go. The people that come and go are not essential to God continuing and completing his work. God and his work are not impeded by the two guys not getting back together for the entertainment of others (and that is what it is to us because we all know Christ, the songs, the meanings, etc).
I can tell you because I have asked and have been told repeatedly, "NO CHANCE." Now, I will say this. I was told that the reunion of the 85 dream team would never happen. I was told that by several Petra members. The most optimistic were John Lawry followed by Ronny Cates. We all do it. We all make judgment calls based on the stimuli and information from the past to the here and now, without knowledge of tomorrow.

I don't know what is happening with the 'classic' Petra, as I'm not involved with that, but I have knowledge via an email that Greg Carnes, who was going to be doing the booking, is not now. What does that mean? I don't know...
I DO know about the drummer for the two Petra concerts, and yes - it is Cristian Borneo. He is from Argentina, and will be coming to the U.S. for rehearsals and also the concerts.
He had tried out for Petra, but the band chose Paul instead. So this is Cristian's 'second chance,' so to speak, and he is very excited about living his dream of playing for Petra.
I've only talked to him via email, but he's more than pumped for this!
