HA HA!Guitarists quit top US bands
Two successful US rock bands, Alien Ant Farm and Evanescence, have parted company with their guitarists.
Alien Ant Farm, who got a UK number three hit with a cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, have lost guitarist Terry Corso.
Evanescence, who had a UK number one with Bring Me to Life in the summer, have lost founder member Ben Moody.
Alien Ant Farm blame "irreconcilable differences" with Corso, while Moody quit his band on the eve of a tour.
Alien Ant Farm - Dryden Mitchell (vocals) Tye Zamora (bass) and Mike Cosgrove (drums) - announced the split last week, and brought in substitute guitarist Vincent Camacho to play a date in Birmingham, Alabama.
"Mindful of not wanting to miss a date of their current tour with 311, the AAF parties orchestrated this rock divorce to fall between shows," their statement said.
Camacho, a friend of the band, had been brought in to rehearse the band's songs in between touring dates.
Evanescence's guitarist reportedly left the band before the start of a European tour in Berlin on 24 October.
Moody was one of the founding members of the group and co-wrote much of their material alongside lead singer Amy Lee.
The band's second guitarist John LeCompt is filling on the dates, which include shows in the UK this week.
"You don't do that to your band. You wouldn't do that to your friends or your family. You don't do that to anyone," Lee told Rocksound magazine of her colleague's departure.
