I hate to say it (especially because most of the guys in that band are nice guys and former band mates of a co-worker. But, Head East is not worth the price of admission. Why would anyone pay for a ticket (or a promoter pay 6k) for a tribute band? That is essentially what you are getting. Roger's attitude is somewhat abrasive. They are not promoter/venue friendly. The last time they were at the Kearney Amphitheater here in KS, they drew about 200 people. They may think that they are royalty, but they aren't.

Well, brent, respectively, I must refute your comment about the admission. It's only $10 to get into the Liquid Asssets concert, and the El Paso Corn Festival is free. I mean I guess I could understand you maybe not liking their style. I don't understand why. I love their sound they've kept for so long, much like Boston, and they have a very loyal fanbase. Their asking price for venues is pretty much the norm in bands of older members, because of flight/hotel stay, stuff like that. I mean Sue can definitely attest to that and you can too. It's not always because bands are greedy, it's just you have to think about overall cost to the artist as well and make up the diff. But hey man, I definitely appreciate your opinion :0)

So who's the singer for Head East nowadays? And does he sound anything like John Schlitt?

No, the current singer does not sound like John did then. Head East was more than John on vocals. They had distinct harmonies/sounds. Nobody now sounds like Head East did then. They play the notes (more or less), but these younger guys don't have "it". I think that they are sloppy and it makes me sad that Roger has not retired the name and gone on to do something else, rather than milking the success the band had 40 years ago.

Here is a good idea of how the lead singer butchers the songs:

Head East is very different from Boston because Boston is Tom Sholtz. Everyone else is a hired gun. Boston has be consistent, more so than Head East. Brad Delp stepped away for a bit, but was the primary voice until he took his life. The band has retained the sound and playing that identifies Boston.

I know H.E. plays festivals, fairs, etc. Their shows are often called free. I included promoters in with the fans. My point is that they don't draw much anymore and for their price, regional acts with more followers would be beneficial.

We will just agree to disagree and that is ok with me.

NObody can sing like John could back then. However, I admire the guy for trying. His voice is very close in my opinion. When I say your signature brent it sounded so funny it could fit here lol. But they are a good band in their own right. And Roger not retiring is slightly like Bob. It's his "baby".

A few years back I bought 3 of their CDs at a used cd shop(got 3 for $5) if that tells you anything, and I must say I really didn't care for anything on the 3. I just never really saw the big deal in them. I feel the same way about these groups also.

Boston, Kansas. Beatles, Rolling Stones

Uhh... I'll definitely have to disagree.

I've heard some live YouTube concert vids... and there is something about this guy's voice that just rubs me the wrong way. It's an ODD kind of voice... I don't really know how to describe it.... like there's no depth there. It just sounds warbly to me....

You don't even like Honky Tonk Woman? Seriously, I liked the Stones music, but I always wished they would just shut up and play the music. Mick's voice was annoying.
