Finding My Way By Losing It.
If you're going to read this, get comfortable. It's a bit long and rambly for a blog entry, but Ojo sort of lays it all out there. I enjoy Undercover and Adam Again (and generally ignored his solo stuff), but reading through this sort of gives me pause when I go back and listen to his older material. I can't imagine wanting to go through his journey in a similar way, since I have so much joy and confidence in what I am given in Christ through his finished work on the cross, and ongoing work in my life. I don't say this to puff myself up, but trying some other religion seems futile to me.
His faith was shaken off it's foundation by a girl who wouldn't go out with him if he told her she would go to hell? Come on, man. To quote another Taylor, Steve: "You tossed away the cloak that you should have mended."
Curious what your thoughts are.
PS: I get that "artists" are artists, and that Christian music is entertainment and for profit, and not to idolize mere man, etc.

Re: What happened to Ojo Taylor?
I kind of read through his comments and I'm seeing someone that was never in the faith, and a person that has a very humanistic outlook on religion. Did you notice on how it seems to be all about him and his thinking but nothing about the heart?
This is a problem I have when someone either clams to be a Christian or actually is, but they go out of their way to quote authors of books and not the Bible, and also they really seem to be worried about and get caught up in what the great preachers like Martin Luther and others believe instead of believing in what the Bible and God says. IMO his heart was never in it!!!

Mr. Taylor, meet Mr. Max and Mr. Bell.
Yeah, he sounds like he was always one of spiritual explorer types. Christianity was the first thing he found. It sounded good, so he tried it.
The bible says to search the scriptures for yourself and see if these things are true. It doesn't say use your reasing to find your own truth and then compare that truth to the bible. It sounds like his truth trumps scripture. If the bible doesn't jive with his truth, then the bible must be wrong.

I gather that the Mr. Max is Kevin Max (formerly of DC Talk), but who is this Mr. Bell you're referring to?gman wrote:Mr. Taylor, meet Mr. Max and Mr. Bell.
Edited to add: Never mind, I found it...Rob Bell, author of LOVE WINS.

Mr. Max? I can't say I've kept up with Kevin Max Smith/Kevin Max/K-Max since he left dc Talk. Has he left the faith?

I saw something on his Facebook awhile back where he said he was a "Unitarian at heart."

Re: What happened to Ojo Taylor?
I'm trying to reconcile this with recent-ish Undercover reunions, including Ojo. If I really thought I no longer believed in God, or heaven, or even in hell, I don't think I could sing lyrics that talked about them.
