Kainos, Publicist Involved In Serious Car Accident
April 22, 2005
NASHVILLE, TN - Ben and Hannah Stacy of the new Southern Signal Records group KAINOS are recovering from a serious hit & run car accident that occured Monday night in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
They were returning from dinner at a local restaurant with their publicist Brian Mayes of Nashville Publicity Group when Mayes' Ford Explorer was struck by another vehicle that ran a red light at a high rate of speed. The heavy impact caused the Explorer to spin and roll over, totaling the vehicle.
"God was with us, and I could feel His hand keeping us from continuing to roll over," comments Hannah. "It was a reminder that we are mortal, and at any time we can go home."
To the surprise of rescue workers, there were no serious injuries, but a lot of bumps and bruises. The driver fled the scene but was caught by police moments later and deemed to be under the influence. Mayes and the Stacy's are recuperating at home.
Alive, the debut CD from KAINOS, will be in stores April 26 from Southern Signal Records, EMI EMM and EMI CMG. Their debut single "Selfish Me" debuted last week on the Rock Chart (R&R, Christian Format) at #27.
I hope HM can let us know if he is ok.

Hey Crossways...
I hope all is well with you and Crimson Truth... thanks for your concern over the recent developments involving Kainos.
Personally, I think some of the news surrounding the accident was easily misunderstood. For example, New rock duo Kainos recovering from serious car accident is a very open ended description of events, subject to any number of interpretations. In the article, it does say that the extent of injuries were bumps and bruises and that those involved are recovering at home. But to people skimming news headlines, it's easy to jump to conclusions... 'what? recovering? Omigosh! Are they in an ICU somewhere! OH NO!'. In my humble opinion (and I may get rapped in the mouth or worse for saying this), the accident itself is nowhere near worthy of the amount of press it has subsequently received.
It could have been a whole heck of a lot worse, but thankfully it was not. As for my own disposition, I was not involved in the accident. Keep in mind, I'm just a touring hired gun playing for Kainos and not necessarily part of Kainos per se.
Again, thanks for your prayers and concerns and have a great weekend...
Blessings,
Ryan

A car accident where a car is totaled and you're having to deal with insurance claims and all that is potentially serious. Back injuries can be tricky to deal with too, sometimes you can't tell until later how much of a problem a back injury might be. That being said, sensationalism and blowing things out of proportion is the name of the game for the media....
