Actually, there is more to this. If what is being said is true then this is another sad turn of events for CCM. All I can say is the devil is working overtime.

Don't blame the Devil. We Christians are more then capable of getting into a mess all by ourselves.

I'm surprised no one else had any comments on Tait...

Very disappointed by the news about Tait. I find it hard to believe that none of his bandmates knew about this behavior.

Agreed, seems like a hard thing to keep hidden from band mates, they have to have known.

Coke used on the tour bus too. The band on a whole is done too.

This whole situation keeps reminding me of a quote by Bill Gaither on a documentary about Russ Taff. Paraphrasing, he basically said that if you want perfect people to make Christian music, there won't be any. I understand that we're all sinners, but I don't have a problem holding Christian musicians to a higher standard than non-believers. We are called to holiness, all believers, and I feel like there is a lot of justification that goes on for bad behavior, which I find troubling.

I wonder if this could lead to Peter Furler acquiring the band itself and starting fresh?

That Bill Gather quote is, quite frankly, self-serving BS. There is, of course, a lot of ground between "perfect" and "blatantly sinful". We shouldn't expect our fellow Christians to be perfect, but it's also not unreasonable for us to expect them to be repentant.

Peter Furler and Phil Joel need to be brought back, the current band needs to be 100% purged to save the brand. Their temp singer isn't good. A lot of problems on the way

Unfortunately, on the practical side, I think the band is toast. However, I agree that if Peter and Philip could be brought back, as well as some others from earlier generations, as a retro band under Peter’s leadership, it might have a future. This also brings up a question that I posted several months ago about the ownership and structure of the band. Do None of the founding members own it?
