There would be no Apple OS without Unix. Was that just like saying there would be no "X" without "X" or what? haha

The Amiga had a GUI, mouse and REAL preemptive MULTITASKING in 1985. (As well as 4096 colors and digital stereo sound). Windows didn't get preemptive multitasking until Windows 95. Mac OS didn't get preemptive multitasking until OS X in 2001.

Not having preemptive multitasking means it's up to every program to release the cpu to the system. So a program hanging (or not wanting to release the cpu) would hang the whole system.

Bill Gates also visited Xerox. He was the first paying customer for a Xerox Star computer which he rapidly took home to Microsoft. Apple was a little faster in developing their rip-off though.

That's not very strange though. Apple is a computer company while Microsoft is a software company.

I think Apple and Microsoft have both ripped off ideas from other companies; Apple spends millions maybe even billions each year in court over stolen ideas. Sony and Samsung both have won and lost cases against Apple in the last 15 yrs and a host of smaller type tech companies.
