lol.....I wish!!! No it's not mine, but I'm glad I found it. Let's me know I can rest now. Finaly I have crossed over that last IP address and have found the end of the internet. I guess now I become a tour guide.

That is related to the facebook apps. To be able to play Farmville or anything like that, you willingly give them access to all of your facebook info.executioner wrote:but fb has been known to not only be lax on their security measures, but also has been known to allow third party companies to access users account info.
Not very high when you consider this:executioner wrote:One site(fb) generates(source) 15% of all online theft in world; that's a very high % considering the endless world of the internet.

The End of the Internet page is a riot.
All those sites have their good and bad points as has been pointed out. Facebook is a good way to keep up with family and friends. I don't use the aps or play the games and I use private browsing and/or delete my browsing history at the end of the day. I think that at least cuts down on identity theft; there's no way to stop all of it.
The credit card companies, at least Citibank, seems to be diligent about suspicious charges. I have had unauthorized charges on my cards a couple of times and the credit card company contacted me before I even realized that had happened, and I'm careful about checking my accounts regularly to make sure the charges match up with what I might have bought.

Personally, even if someone hacked into my facebook account, what would they find? I don't use any kind of online banking, or even Paypal. The only thing they would find is
1. An email address, that I never use and can be deleted at any time, it doesn't even have my real name.
2. The fact that I'm a Youth pastor. Anybody on this part of the island knows that.
3. My age. Again, everybody knows that.
I don't put any other information on Facebook, be it a phone number or location or what have you. I think Facebook is safe if you just make sure you only put information that you don't mind everybody knowing.

And even if they hacked your facebook account, how on earth would they get your passwords for other things such as paypal? They need to put some kind of spy program on your computer to collect passwords, and that has nothing to do with facebook. That has more to do with installing unknown, probably often hacked illegal software on your computer.LivingRock wrote:Personally, even if someone hacked into my facebook account, what would they find? Re: Need more reasons to leave Facebook?
In order to verify that you are the owner of something most companies will use things like DOB, email and other small details that are stored in Facebook accounts. If that is no enough if you have forgotten a password to online services ever had a “secret question” to answer to get your password reset? Well the answer to most of the secret questions are found within Facebook. Unless you have worked in Internet security maybe these thing just don’t click with most people.
p.s Beware of $tarbucks free wifi access points.. always use https for any login as people do capture packets of data to rip passwords.

That's the best thing to do Boray, but many people don't. Always have a unique password for every site where you login.
