Tonight at University o' Northern Iowa is a Petra co-. . . . no wait, I mean, a concert hosted by the one 'n' only Panther Marching Band - and it is called the "Marching Band Spectacular." I don't know how "spectacular" it will be, but I'm sure it's gonna rock somewhat!

Yay! After tonight, marching band is over for the rest of the year!

Exclamation point!

Smiley face! :D

Boy do I miss marching band . . . . naught

But I do have to tell -ya somethin funny: During that concert, the trombone section stood up to play a short solo piece, but one of the drum majors, not knowing we were next, came out and started the band playing the next song. So that made the trombone section look pretty stupid - standing up for awhile doing nothing, then sitting back down. What socked is that the band didn't rehearse our show nearly as much as we should have. So we screwed up a ton.

But this was, what, back in November, and it's almost February now. So who cares.

For a long-time trombone player to learn the trumpet is a heinous crime against nature. :?

I'm involved with a symphonic band at UNI, which is mainly for non-music majors to participate in, or for music majors to play a secondary instrument in. (In other words, we sound like a middle-school band.) I'm playing trumpet in it, which is a new, exciting (and straining) experience for me because I've never played trumpet in a band before. It's fun and all, but by the end of rehearsal last Monday night, my lips felt like I could peel them off and use them as Silly Putty. My range needs work, because I can hardly play the concert F at the top of the treble clef staff (and that's an important note to be able to play) :?
