When will they give up?

Post by brent » Fri Jan 14, 2005 3:36 pm

European Space Agency image from television, Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 after the Huygens space probe beamed data including this image back to earth through its Cassini mothership orbiting Saturn's moon Titan. The data are expected to shed light on what Titan's atmosphere and surface are made of, and possibly on the origins of life on Earth. (AP Photo/ ESA)

I wish that we could vote on our budgets for NASA in the US, so that we could stop this madness, and save some money for what matters.

"borned" is not a word

Post by seichu kaisho » Sat Jan 15, 2005 11:27 pm

Someone will probably get mad at me for making this correction - but "the place you borned" should say "the place where you were born."

Hey everyone, I'm just helping epdc, not criticizing her - besides, I willingly allow her to correct my Spanish. :D

"Nacer" in English is "to be born," not "to born"

So when you say "Yo naci en los Estados Unidos" in English, you say "I was born in the United States," not "I borned in the United States."

As interesting as it is to probe around in space, man, there's lots of needs that money could go to............

Like Bakersfield for example.........it took him FOREVER to be in color. The poor guy had to be in black and white for a very long time and money could have been much better spent on research on how to get Bakers up to this day and time........sheesh.......

I think some money could be granted to my college so they could afford a Japanese class there - I really want to take one but they don't offer any. (My Japanese friends help me some, but they're not licensed teachers and they don't give me homework or textbooks - nor do they have a syllabus.) 8)

Wait. How was NASA involved with this? It says there was an image from the ESA. Does NASA have anything to do with the ESA?

No, they are not tied, but did cooperate on the deal. My poing was that we are doing the same thing to search for the reason that we came to be, or how we came to be. My tax dollars pay for the stuff. If they would ask me, Dr. Carl Baugh and every other bible-believing Christian, we could save them billions of dollars, and use that money for a good cause.

I suspect that it is the military. I think that is as it should be, since that is the primary objective of the government, as outlined by the constitution.

Clinton let the military go to pot. People do not want tax increases to get it back into shape, and our guys (my friends and family) are over there pilfering for additional armor, supplies, etc. They did this thing like a person charging hell with a water pistol. Yet, we cannot teach creation as the fact that it is, must teach evolution (which is not even a theory, because a theory by definition can be proven or disproven) as a fact, and then we have to spend billions to find stuff to substanciate it. But, do you ever notice that science keeps changing? There is always something new. There is always a better answer for a problem, but never the correct solution.

It takes more faith to believe evolution, and it costs the USA more money to do so.

First off, I believe in Creationism as much as you do, but it is no more provable than evolution. One may be more believable than the other, but you cannot prove either, because none of us were there to actually experience the event. That is why within Creationism, there is the Old Earth Theory and the New Earth Theory.

Secondly, why do you think God made such a huge universe? So we could just ignore it? I, for one, am glad that we are exploring, because it's exciting to find out what God has made. Looking for origins of life is not the sole purpose of space exploration, and who knows what they might find out. Maybe they will actually prove the Creationism theory or disprove Evolution.

However, I do agree that there may be too much money being spent on space exploration. I think I'd rather see more of that money go toward National Defense in the form of a STAR WARS type system than anything else right now.
