Heya Crossways... hope all is well with you and yours.
Things have been pretty cool, lately... kind of a nice break between GMA's and the next round of gigs, which will see Kainos visiting Maine, Maryland, Arkansas, and Georgia. I've been using this time to transition to my new keyboard rig (the mighty
Korg Karma has moved up a tier and ousted the trusty but aged
Korg DW8000, making room for the even mightier and LONG awaited
Roland VR-760), learn some gospel / r&b techniques for the church I play for (badly) on Sunday mornings, and finish one or two of the many incomplete songs I've been working on.
GMA's in a nutshell... I met some really cool people, and I met some people who thought they were really cool. I got to see the showcases I wanted to see, demo the instruments I wanted to demo (make sure you get a free musician's pass next year if you didn't this year), and I had a lot of fun at the Club NV showcase featuring Kainos and others.
The album is now in stores (released April 26th), so I know the camp has been pretty excited about that. As far as upcoming festivals, Kainos will be playing some brief mainstage sets before the headlining groups at AtlantaFest, the Crossover Festival, and Rock the Light at Universal Studios. I think there's also confirmation on Shoutfest in the fall, but I don't know a whole lot about the planning and so forth. For my role, I simply get in the van, set up my hardware, and have a blast. I will do my best to continue doing so for however long or however short God's current season for my life lasts.
Be sure to check the blogs at the
myspace website as I try to update them frequently... whether that be with pertinent info or mindless, irrelevant musings.
Thanks for checking in and likewise be sure to frequently disclose what's happening with Crimson Truth... blessings...

Ryan,
Aren't you glad you didn't go into the military like you talked about some time ago? God's really blessed you with being able to do what you love to do! Nice to see those reports.......
Odd that you would say that Sam...

SAMANTHA!
I was just thinking about that very thing a couple of days ago. Granted, I still get the itch every now and then (being raised in a military family makes it hard to shake) and I haven't completely ruled out trying to fly helicopters or light aircraft in the Reserves or something like that.
But you are right, it is safe to say (and hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20) that joining the active force when I initially was planning would have been the wrong thing to do. I don't like to say as so many do 'Well, if it's not God's will it won't happen'. That's simply not true... choices are made everyday that are out of God's will... for example, SIN. What I DO like to say is that 'All things work together for good to those that are called according to His purpose". Thus, I don't think life would be necessarily miserable if I had decided to enlist.
Whatever the case, I have the utmost confidence that I am in the right place at the right time... perhaps in a few weeks or so I can fill you in on some of the REALLY cool stuff that's been going on behind the scenes not only with KAINOS, but personally from the perspective of my own music career.
Hope all is well with you and Warren...

You're probably wise not to go into the reserves now...It would mean more time away from the family, I would imagine you have enough of that being on the road with Kainos. Doesn't mean it can't happen later though.

I didn't know ryan was military brat.
I am too, my dad was career Navy, a chaplain.
We spent time at Pearl Harbor, Great Lakes and NC (with the Marines), then to Seattle - I wonder if we ever crossed paths?
BTW - went by Wally world (a rarity for me) and browsed their cds - lo and behold - KAINOS on sale!
I guess you guys must be about to break out. Do you have a CCM interview scheduled?

Yeah, "Alive" is a good CD...I need to listen to the last four songs still, but I like what I've heard so far. The lyrics are pretty deep and I love Hannah's voice.

Hey Ryan,
It's sure good to see you have such success. Guess living in Nashville is paying off......
Interesting what you said about that it's not necessarily true that "if it's not God's will it won't happen", because God permits us to make mistakes and learn from them. I'm just glad for the scripture that 'All things work together for good to those that are called according to His purpose", even the stupid decisions we make.
Warren and I are doing ok. We've moved to Beloit, WI, not sure if you know that and things have been kinda tuff financially. Ministry wise it's been a great move, because we have had quite a few dates playing in the area and getting more just by word of mouth. I've never been that busy doing concerts down in NM, that's for sure!
We were down in Nashville in March for the CIA Summit (Indie Heaven). Have you ever looked at Indie Heaven? Headed up by Keith Mohr?
We did a BBQ for the Convention and we may be coming down at the end of October for the Artists in Christian Testimony Conference to do a BBQ.
Maybe we might get to see you??
Can't wait to hear more news of what's happening with you! The Lord's blessed you and that's awesome. Keep up the good work!
More dishings...

New pics online of Kainos' acoustic set in Maryland this past weekend if anyone cares. And if you don't, well... they'll still be online anyway.

As usual, prayers are coveted...
Oh, one more thing... Kainos needs a bass player to stand in for the a gig on July 2nd in Stone Mountain, Georgia. We've all decided that a cardboard cutout of our regular bassist just isn't going to work. So if you're in the Nashville area and can anchor down the low end, fire me an email.
Blessings,
Ryan

Ryan, check out the roster on Indie Heaven (click the banner on the bottom of my homepage). There's tons of great musicians in the nashville area. You can e-mail Keith Mohr. There should be plenny to pick from.
